This is one of the very best flight demonstrations I have ever seen. Note the canard behind the cockpit and the omni directional tail pipes.

The website shown below will produce a six minute film strip of a new Russian fighter that defies imagination. It is a slow download but worth every minute. Enjoy!

Some incredible flying. Also looks like the jet exhausts toggle like a garden hose nozzle!

This is a new generation Russian fighter, the SU-35. India bought this aircraft and won all competition at the world air show. The unusual "stall" is called the COBRA. There are two videos on this same link.

Pretty cool that he doesn't get a dual compressor stall in that stall!

That plane almost has more rudder surface than wing surface!

That's called thrust vectoring. Our F22 Raptor has a degree of that as well, as does the new Lockheed Martin X 35. Makes for huge maneuverability.

Cool video. They used to run a similar one on the Discovery Wings TV documentary show in late 90s.

It is curious to me, and was perplexing to the fighter jock giving the interview, that the somehow mystically crowd pleasing yet to them quite baffeling "Cobra" maneuver, is perhaps the easiest flight maneuver in the whole show to execute !

Very impressive demo flights.

And virtually obsolete due to stealth technology and planes like the F-22 Raptor. Neat though.

I dunno, the more I watched, the more I became highly concerned how our fighters could effectively deal with the rapid, negative color changes deployed at will by that Commie jet on the video !

If you look at the bottoms of the air intakes, you'll notice there are intake flaps there that open to feed air to the engines during extreme AOA events like that Cobra manuver.
