So those rockets fire just before landing to make sure you are cooked? ;)
 
Given the Russian airlines safety record, they definitely need this and more!! Each passenger should have a parachute too for when this thing screws up!

According to the IKAO, over the past 10 years there are 8% of all accidents happen during takeoff, landing - 21%, flight - 71%.

Safety analysis of flight shows us, that just 15% of accidents happen because of omission of aerotechnics, other - human factor.

Study of the state of accident rate of planes suggests about systemic crisis in security of passengers. The idea of collective salvation of plane passengers was proposed by Russian inventor G.E. Koteinikov, who in the year of 1923 obtained a patent for the invitation "Device to save the passengers in case of plane crash".

However, technical possibilities of that time did not allow the practical realization of this idea, and it has been unrealized till today.

A modern approach to the questions of passengers' safety has to assume a possibility of their evacuation from crashed plane in the range of heights from several tens of meters to several kilometers, smooth descent and soft landing (splashdown), providing opportunities of searching for them, also of their vital activity before rescuers detection. Such approach is realized in the patent UA52936U.

On which plane will you let go your relatives? On ordinary and inexpensive - no chance for salvation! Or on suggested, equipped with built-in life-saving capsule (container), with price for the ticket on it 15% more, where is a chance for salvation!

The fact, that patent is based on time-tested technical solutions, is a guarantee of success. While designing, will be used the long established technologies (carbon and carbon fiber for fuselage, wings, capsule etc.). The capsule (container) is fixed on fuselage by releasable attachments, which can be automatically controlled opened.

All the kinematic, electric, pipeline and other connections in the places of their separation are self-releasable, for example, via automatic coupling, electronic releases, slide and other valves. Due to capsule (container) the noise level in the passenger cabin is low.

A project of plane, equipped by the rescuing capsule - is try to "bring" to the world market completely new plane under severe technical, juridical, and commercial restrictions.

Plane's rising in price from capsule and parachute system will not exceed a base analogue and will be compensated by its market price on account of competitive advantages - 100% of passenger salvation.

The weight of the plane will correspond to the base variant on account of manufacture of capsule, fuselage, and wings from carbon fiber and modern high-strength metals, and also reduced amount of seats. Descent of capsule (container) is provided on account of aerodynamic interaction of parachutes with free airflow under the impact of the mass of object.

Anyone else worried what happens to the rest of the plane after this thing is ejected? Especially on takeoff/landing?

More worried that the rockets apparently exhaust along the parachute risers- cause, you know, those things aren't flammable or anything.

Same thing that happens nowadays when an airliner punts into the ground. Rocket assisted parachute recoveries were used in the Russian space stuff. I like the classic captain goes down with the ship values. Big question is who gets to pull the lever? Anybody, simply have a wire down the side, old tyme bus style?:lol:
