Royal Roasting (of engine)

The key here is this quote
"The engine tries to start again when it is stopping. He's not the only one. We've had two or three. Better pilots than him have done it."
The only reason this is news is that a royal was involved.

He's commissioned in the RAF, Royal Navy, and the Army?

Does he get pay from all three? When there's a war, where does he report? :)

He's going for SAR training, considering his position, title and probable future, he'll be reporting where his training will allow him to further develop his skills and image as the leader he is destined to be. I think SAR was an excellent choice for that.

As for pay, not sure, but my money is he gets paid from one service, like his pay makes a difference to him....

Apparently you're only supposed to cook the engine to a certain amount and he just "over" cooked it.

Yep, that's pretty much the operating theory behind a turbine.... It's a big a-- convection oven, and if the fan gets too slow thing burn up. (I thought I'd put it in Home Ec terms since you're a girl....:P:D)

All he did was slightly over-temp the engine; a PT-6, no less. It's not a groundbreaking mistake, nor earth shattering. In fact, I'd bet that they borescope the thing and put it back in service by the end of the week. It sounds like he controlled it before the temp got too high, only slightly over the red line. Really not an impressive error, at all.
