Early April, I'll have a bunch of sales reps in New Orleans. My last trip was before the hurricane- so I'm sure things are different.

Any ideas to take my team for dinner? Price up to ~$30/head. We are probalby staying by the convention center. We will have a vegetarian with us. They'll be ~10 of us.

Thanks much!

Drive/Taxi? Pascal's Manale. Uptown, about 10 minute drive from the Convention Center. Or for an authentic experience take the St Charles streetcar out to Napolean Avenue then walk north two blocks.

IMHO you won't find things much different since the hurrican now, esp. downtown or in the Quarter. The devastated areas are hidden from the typical tourist's eye.

Man, there is no better place on this planet to eat than New Orleans, but $30.00 is a pretty tight budget.

I am extraordinarily fond of Galatoire's ( http://www.galatoires.com/ ), but I am unsure as to whether you could make reservations for a group; but no, after checking, they do accept reservations for upstairs.

You can scarcely lose if you choose Commander's Palace, an old-line favorite. And, Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse is home to excellent food and exquisite service.

You really can't lose in NOLA, when the game is food!

K-Paul's , although it's blocks away from the convention center. Good enough to make ya wanna slap yer pappy.

Thanks much! I'll look these places up. K-Pauls looks interesting- close enough for us, but I'll check out the others as well too.

Thank you much for the help! The $30 is flexible especially since I'll be bringing a smaller team to this meeting.

NOLA is a good place for eats!

No, NOLA is a GREAT place for eats!

(BTW, if you go to Commander's Palace, order the Café Brulot for desert! It's not on the menu; just tell them you heard about it!)

I had dinner with Danielle in a fun place last weekend- Sweet Fire and Ice, but I think it is in Metarie (sp). Good food, ample portions, prices fair, and serves till really late!

There is this resturant by the covention center, called Gordon Bierch (sp) It's pretty good, but it's not a true New Orleans resturant. There is this other place called "The Ugly Dog Saloon" they have the best BBQ and its dirt cheap! I'm not sure if they are still around though. Red Eye Grill is good too.

Gordon Biersch is a chain of brewpubs across the country. I've been to the one in Columbus. Food and beer were both mediocre, in my opinion.

I'd spring for Commander's Palace. It's a cab ride though (you could walk, not sure I'd do it at night).

Hey I've been there! The food was good, the drinks were great but the company was fantastic!

Folks must be really bored.... a number of very old threads being exhumed today....
