Perfect, thanks for the info.
No test prep... just want a basic + understanding of the design/operation.
Like many of you, I've always wrenched on my own "stuff", from vehicles to inboard gas/diesel boats to outboards/PWCs.
Just want to know what I'm looking at when I pop the cowling.

Oooooh… really, find a shop that has airplanes stacked like cordwood and find the owner. Pay for a hour of his time to just show you stuff.
I, too, am an avid amateur wrencher. But stared at stuff hanging off a airplane engine like a dog watching TV at first. “That’s a prop governor…”. “Oooooooh… yep, can see that now, kinda looked like a mechanical fuel pump on a old Bobcat.”
Mech shops full of dismantled airplanes reveals LOTS of otherwise unknowns!

The PHAK linked above is a good basic manual. But if you want some more detail there are a number of free options online from the FAA and the OEMs as well.
