Say I have an image I want to included in a post that could stand to be shrunk when I post it so I don't blow out Nate's iPhone.

Does XF have any "add-on" tool to do this in the input box? Or are there parameters to add to the URL of the media file that would accomplish this?

The image will automatically resize if you drag it to the reply box or upload it as a file.

To what Dimensions?

And is that really working? I pick on Nate (in a friendly way) because his photos is always shown to me supersized.... Especially the recent posts about the new XF formatting and loss of TT.

It resizes to the dimension of the screen it is being viewed on so you don't need to worry about it being supersized.

Here's a test. Image size is 1680X1050:

It will resize it to 1280, I think. And then still constrain it to the view port if it's smaller than that.

The super cub photo did "restrain itself" to the max with my iPad uses for the forum.

And it did adjust itself when I switched from landscape to portrait orientation.

Cool beans.

I thought it was a pancake and not a waffle...

Oh, wait, that's for the Purple Board.

Hmmm...I just discovered (completely by accident) that tapping on a photo toggles it back to its original size. Tapping it again reduces it back down to fit on the screen. At least it does on my iPad.

Try it on the above bunny...

Bunny with coleslaw on it's head?

Hmm. Older posts from TT were uploaded to their servers not PoA so they were just image links. TT would offer different sizes but hard for me to say how they looked on your end.

Posts more recently were just files dragged and dropped into desktop Firefox and I let the site handle doing the image resizing however it wanted to handle it.

Tonight I noticed when TT came back that XF/TT integration is better than the old software and you can tell TT to upload straight to the site. So I switched it from uploading to TT's servers to PoA. Better for continuity for PoA if TT decided to shut down their image servers or something.

Here's an iPhone screenshot of the setting. How's it look? I can pick three sizes. And I assume the XF software which handles images WAY better than the old stuff, can also do whatever it needs to do to match people's screen resolution with any of the three TT sizes. Here's all three from TT and a full size of the option buttons during the upload.

On an iPhone, the first one is about half the size of the second two. The third appears to be a bit sharper than the second.

Posing the question as "The Three Bears Conundrum"? :D

For iPad, The first image was good size for showing something general. The second one was juuuuuuust right for detail.

The other two are way to big. Something about how they are being added to the XF storage is defeating the auto resize that the Supercub and WaffleBunny demonstrated.

Interesting. I'll default my finger to the middle option unless high res detail is required.

TT resizes all of them to fit the iPhone screen, by the way.

Testing picture posting...

This is just a test.....

If it were an actual emergency, please contact my therapist....
