Hello All!

Can anyone suggest a replacement anti-collision light for a 1965 cessna 150F? The plane is ready to fly other then the fact that the rotating beacon is never going to rotate again. It still lights up, just no rotating. Also, the red lens is badly dried out and just about crumbles in your hand. I cant seem to find anything that is a "direct replacement". I found a Whelen replacement on aircraft spruce that I think might work with an adapter but I'm not sure. Any advise would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for any replies!

Here's the list to convert to either self-contained LED ($$$$)
or self contained strobe/power supply ($$$).
Aeroflash also makes a nice replacement flasher/strobe for you bird.

Hope this helps...

Awesome! Thanks for the replies! That definitley cleared it up....not a cheapo replacement but definitely a direct replacement. Dont know if you looked at the price list on aircraft spruce, but the direct LED replacement is $609!!! Ouch!!!!

If it's a Grimes, you can probably rebuild it.

If it's a Whalen, replace it with a strobe for $400 or so (I've got one in a box here if you want to buy it).

Unlike most modern stuff, the GRIMES is designed to be serviced. I was able to completely pull the motor apart (it's assembled with screws) and clean and relube mine. Perhaps if the lens was gone I'd have to hunt around for a replacement, but most of the rest of it is pretty stock parts and frankly, unlikely to need replacing anyhow.

True, and if the motor is beyond fixin', the aviation parts department at Jameco Electronics has DC motors in all sizes and shapes. Motors ain't a mystery.
