I'm curious about the same question.

Holy hell, no kidding! I realllllly hope I'm not flying EWR by the time that rolls around, that's going to be a mess and a half.

Nevertheless...

ROAD TRIP!!:eek::yesnod:

They can design the entire course to remain in the class-B exclusion. Lat time they had that 1/2 cuban in there, but that is certainly not mandatory. Don't think it would affect EWR. It WILL affect the helo sightseers.

Wow!!! I can just hear the controllers now...........LGA no EWR no JFK no TRACON no EWR no LGA....some poor SOB asking for the Skyline Route with an Air Race going on Priceless

Dear wife,

I'm going to New York for Father's Day. I'm taking the boys with me. Have a nice weekend. See you Monday.

Oh that is going to be AWESOME to see!

Pretty good idea in my mind. That 'might' help the image of GA and aviation as a whole to an area that has seen one too many bad things falling from the skies. Hopefully the masses there will be able to drop their uneasiness to anything flying few notches. :yesnod::yesnod:

Another option:

Norwegian Cruise Lines has a cruise leaving NYC at 4:00 on Saturday to Orlando, and one leaving at 4:00 on Sunday to Bermuda.

Last time I went (from Boston), we boarded at 11:00. Front row seats. (Oh yeah, you get a cruise out of it too). I believe they dock right next to the Intrepid.

Steve- that's a pretty cool idea! I can't wait for them to announce the exact course location. I wanna grab a nice hotel suite with a view!

I just posted on my blog a really nice video that gives a 3 min overview of the races. I've watched it like 10 times already! Red Bull Air Race overview

I don't think it will do much for GA. After all, high performance monoplanes racing around pylons close to the ground doesn't exactly inspire faith and confidence in "those little airplanes" for Aunt Marge.

Maybe..... Aunt Marge was probably one of the million or so that freaked out when Cory Lindle flew his "little airplane" into that building.. That Cirrus is/was a GA plane I think.. YMMV.

Lidle's plane was a Cirrus.

The airplane caused extensive damage to an apartment, and may have caused more if it hit a different building.

Building,,, pylon... Both are objects a plane needs to miss.

I still contend that a good, safe and well attended Red Bull event will restore some faith to aviation in a city that has seen the bad side of it.
Just my .02 cents worth...

Ben.

But "Aunt Marge", aka "Mrs. Grundy" cannot be reasoned with, let's face it. :D

The benefit to GA will be that many people who never thought much about GA will probably be inspired by what they witness... everything from "now ain't that something" to "I wanna be a pilot!!"

Yup.. That is where I was going with my comments.:yesnod::yesnod:

Maybe. But of the the tens of thousands lining the banks of the Hudson, maybe a dozen will be spurred to join our ranks by Red bull. :frown3:

I hope I'm proved wrong on this, BTW!!! :yesnod:

Great news. I was always hoping there would be one in NYC. I even considered taking a train to see the race in Barcelona last October while I was kicking around in Switzerland.
