Red Bull Air Race Ft. Worth, TX Sept 6-7

Our group will be in Section PU104 row's 48 and 49

For the NASCAR and Indy races, that's actually a good spot. reasonably close to Start/Finish line, and high enough that you could see the back straight.

Section PU104, Row 40 here. Not to derail this thread, but I'm determined to get fat on some good food this trip, specifically some BBQ and some Cajun. Anybody have suggestions? Any must stop restaraunts in the area?

If anyone needs ONE ticket, I have one for $50 in sec PU415. I have a new commitment and can't go.

Hard 8 BBQ next to DFW is hands down amazing!

Where are you lodging? Roanoke (not far from the track) has some really good places, including a version of the Hard8 BBQ, Babe's Chicken Dinner House (http://www.babeschicken.com/), and Twisted Root Burgers (http://twistedrootburgerco.com/)

Denton, has "The Eastside" (http://eastsidedenton.com/) for those wanting to sample local craft beers and spirits. And we have a few good local holes in walls with good food. Including Frillys for those who want to get their bayou fix (http://www.frillysdenton.com/)

Lots of options to fill your request...

Staying at the Marriot across the road from Ft. Worth Alliance Aiport. Planning to get in early Friday afternoon and hit some local places and do some sight-seeing.

East Side Denton... wow 40 bourbons! Sounds like a good enough reason for me!

Staying at the Hilton Garden Inn across from KAFW Only place I could find nearby with an in-house restaurant and a bar.

Denton isn't that far of a trip from TMS (15-20 min in good traffic) and LOTS of hotel room choices.

For those coming out of town, PM me your names, phone numbers, email addresses and arrival day/time/method and we might arrange a food and pub crawl.

We're hoping to land at Alliance KAFW Saturday morning. Does anyone know when the TFR will take affect?

Me and Mrs 6PC are in.
A new friend we met through TangoWhiskey had some spare tickets.
Looking forward to this!

Race Pattern has been released.

The folks that purchased the condo rooms in Turn 2 are going to have some awesome seats.

Something not depicted below is the monster TV in the middle of the back stretch. I sure hope no one smacks into it as they enter the track.

I will be there as a TMS Ambassador. In other words, FREE access to the race in exchange for being a volunteer.

"EAA Volunteers will be serving as Texas Motor Speedway Ambassadors on race days during the Hangar Walks. The Ambassadors duties will be to inform fans of competition and driver specifics, assist with facility questions, and enhance the fans experience."

Crap... I thought you'd be the bartender! :)

After the day is done, we need to gather some where...

Bryan!!! You're the better social director...

This is one of those posts where a link to the info identified would really, really be helpful, rather than keeping it to yourself.

I'm PO'd... Guessing that the pilots and the Red Bull staff will be staying at the Marriott, just SW of the speedway, I tried to get rooms there many many months ago... "Nope, all booked out for that weekend" NOW there are rooms open! Moving our entire group would be a huge PITA.

During the first Red Bull race in Detroit, the pilots and crew all stayed at the Marriott Renaissance Center and it was a blast... several parties... lots of fun. Jay Honeck and I talked to Chuck Aaron for awhile one night about the Red Bull Helicopter.

I only have child care for a few hours. We are going to get there about 30 min before start and have to leave shortly after.

In downtown Roanoke a few miles from TMS there are a couple bar and grill type joints that are pretty good.

We've been watching them practice today, can hear and see them from 52F. Went over to TMS for awhile to watch, will be exciting to see from inside the stadium. Takes about 56 seconds to make a two lap race. If you plan on watching from outside the stadium be ready to get shooed away. The security is keeping the cars moving .
They were landing and taking off from inside the stadium, I thought that was pretty cool.

Some Porsche buddies and I are going up to the Mule Barn in Justin after the race on Sat. Go out the back way, or on 114, take 156 north and Mule barn is on the left a few mins up. Watch for Texaco, then a few blocks further.

Pit straight, inside the oval.

So what are our dinner plans for Saturday?

A group of is just got back from a night of amazing food and drink down at the Stockyards. Terrific steaks at Riskey's!

Looking forward to the races tomorrow and Sunday!

Jay where are you staying? We are at the residence inn.

Paul - with the Iowa boys!

"You are cleared into the track. Smoke on." The wind is about 310 at 23 so we are seeing a lot of pylon cuts. The pilots arent adjusting for the wind from the northwest. I think when they practiced the wind was from the south. Also the announcer is the most annoying evar. Still having fun.

The rotors coming off the grand stands are getting pretty bad. So far two knockoffs in the cup. Several saftey penalties caused by the northwest wind pushing the planes towards the condo building.

Matt Hall had an epic pylon strike. Was trailing pylon material stuck on his aileron spade. Tried tail slides and inverted maneuvers to get loose of it, but ended up diverting to Alliance Airport and making a successful landing with it still attached. Nice job dealing with an unusual situation!

We discovered the best seats in the house are at the far South end of the grandstand. Our seats are 50' from a shady, breezy corridor, with food and drink vendors that are seldom busy (because they are at the far end)!

We wandered over by TangoWhiskey and Jim Burns for a bit, and it was so bloody hot we retreated back to the South end!

This is a GREAT venue to watch the races. There's not a bad seat in the house, and the entire race takes place right in front of you. This is way better than Detroit/Windsor, which was the last time we saw the Red Bull races.

Some footage of one of the racers followed by that Red Bull Helicopter doing aerobatics. That thing is unreal.
