Push alerts on Iphones

At least that is what I think they are called.
How do I stop them?

I have a couple of apps that occasionally toss an unsolicited message on my screen. Tune-In radio is one. I can't figure out how to disable them.

Settings --> Notification Center --> scroll to the app and click on it, then select the desired "Alert Style" or choose none to turn off completely
