PTS- Change is in the wind....

Nothing new- good DPEs have essentially been doing this for years. Bad DPEs crank through the maneuvers listed in their 1995 PTS booklet and throw stupid questions out to "quiz" applicants.

It sounds good to me. More like situational based testing I guess. I just had no idea the PTS was goign to be replaced.

I found the undershirt/jacket combo to be even classier than the hair--and a voice that really makes me feel like reading the FAA documents rather than listening to the video...

Edit: of you agree--or just want more details, check out https://www.faa.gov/training_testing/testing/media/acs_briefing.pdf

Thanks.

As I thought, Jason overstated it dramatically. The FAA doc makes it clear that this is much more about the knowledge test and its out of date, unfocused, and trivial question bank than it is about the practical test.

The PTS is not going away. It's being integrated with a "knowledge test standard."

The knowledge test has ALWAYS been out of date. It was that way in 1981 when I got my certificate and it's not gotten any better in the revisions.

I don't know what the damned FAA propensity to roll perfectly good single documents into one massive piece of crap.

No, they play "stump the dummy" because that's how they did it in the air force.....

That guy has some aerodynamic hair

I've watched a ton of this guys videos. Good information but I can't stand his presentation voice. It's almost like he's straining to talk, much like a preacher. Maybe that's why I don't go to church...

I'm just starting my instrument training, maybe I can finish in the next 6 months.

I met Jason at Sun N Fun last year, he's certainly a guy who is going places with his online flight training operation. But besides his business expertise it's obvious he's passionate about GA.
I think he's held in high regard by the FAA and they use him as one of their GA consultants.

I'd like to meet him. Like I said I watched a lot of his free videos and they are very informative. It's just the style of presentation that I don't care for.

He is not a participant in the government-industry panel working on the Airman Certificate Standards or on the panel that meets with the test writers.

C'mon, don't rag on Jason, he tries his best to teach kids how to fly.

Now he just needs to learn how to plug in a lapel mike ... :)

Haha... I respect a guy that finds a way to make a living in aviation while helping bring more people in... doesn't mean I'm not going to rag on him though!

Just like King School products--some people swear by them, other people swear at them, but as long as we have more pilots thanks to them it is a good thing.

Yea, but he could get on aviation forums and give the impression that he consults with them often......Seems to work for someone else.

Who knew Vanilla Ice was an aviation guru.
