AP threatens to sue AP affiliate for embedding official AP YouTube videos

The executive who called the station accused them of "stealing our licensed content." Here's a quote from an interview from the obviously frustrated station manager:

And we're an A.P. affiliate for crying out loud! I stumped him on that one... What is really shocking is that they were shocked that they've got a YouTube channel that people are embedding on their Websites. He seemed shocked by that. "Oh, I am going to have to look into that" is what he told me.

First, the AP decided that fair use wasn't real and said it would start going after people for even using their headlines with links to their content.
Are they forgetting those links bring readers to their pages where advertising is hosted? That's not the way to make your hit count look good to prospective customers.

It's certainly no way to make yourself look internet-savvy either. Or even smart in the least.

The rampant newspaper failures are starting to make sense now. :(

There are still sr. exec around who have their email FAXED to them when they are on the road by their secretaries errr administrative assistants.

Not too many years ago I had a manager that wanted weekly reports. I would write mine and then email it to him. He would then come by to tell me that he could not read my emails and would I please print the report. The third time this happened I went to his office and asked to help him with the error. He showed me the email he got form me and it was obvious he did not have microsoft office on his computer. I asked him if he had office and he pulled the cd from his desk with the shrink wrap still on it and said "yes" but then went on to tell me how he could not open any office documents--DOH!

One word....Oblivious...

He was probably looking for another revenue stream...

Thank goodness, we don't have Office on our 'puters, either; we use WordPerfect.

Yes he did. Sad to say but he stayed employed to just a few months ago when he was finally retired.

Yet another proof of the "Peter Principle"...

In any bureaucracy, an individual will rise to the level of their incompetence.
