Being a fighter plane, not a transport, the flight control system of the F/A-18 does not include all the protections that an Airbus's has, so it is possible to depart the plane from controlled flight if you maneuver aggressively enough, and this was meant to be a "to the limits" demo of the aircraft's capabilities. You get the pitch rate going too fast, and you can get to the point where the flight control computers can't react fast enough to stop bad things from happening if the pilot commands it or lets it happen.i don't get it. With all those electronics onboard why did it yaw so much?
That would do it.Close view by experts note that one nozzle is open and the other closed. Engine failure and Vmc roll.
Hopefully the only injury is the pilot's pride.
Probably just going too slow at that point... even a computer can't do much without any rudder effectiveness.i don't get it. With all those electronics onboard why did it yaw so much?
