Time to fly!
WN is piloting (pun intended) WiFi on some of their flights for $5. I'm currently about to cross into FL heading to Tampa at 38,999 feet. It's kinda cool tracking your own flight on flightaware. :d

I pinged and the dl speed was 1,800 kbps. Not too shabby considering how service is being delivered.

WN??

Have fun in Tampa. Get over to Y'bor city and have dinner at the Columbia restaurant. Good Cuban eats!!

Southwest.

TPA is just a resting point before arriving in FLL. I'll be north of Miami this week so the good Cuban eats will be a short drive but well worth it!

Thanks for the tip re Y'bor City as I'll be in TPA starting next quarter for a 4 month stint.

Re: Southwest flight makes emergency landing in Tampa

".....Tampa International Airport spokeswoman Brenda Geoghagan (GO'-haygan) says passengers were let out of the plane on emergency slides Monday afternoon. She says airport fire crews confirmed smoke in the cabin. But Southwest spokesman Brad Hawkins said there was no smoke or fire on the plane. He said an indicator light went on soon after takeoff, prompting the pilot to land in Tampa as a precaution...."

Smoke in the cabin would definitely be reason to use the slides, but the WN spokesman said there wasn't any. You don't command an evacuation with the almost 100% chance of at least minor injuries without a good reason. I wonder what the whole story is.
