Poor King

But... Are you talking about the KSN 770 when you say you "find BK's UI more intuitive", or the old KLN 89B or 94? Because if you like the KSN 770 UI, you are in fact odd. That is one of the clunkiest UI's I've ever seen. I can't even get it to go direct to a fix without asking for help. It's a complete turd, and not even a polished turd, just a plain old stinky turd.

I never really used a manual on our former 89B (and it's actually not at all unlike the Garmin GNS), and I've heard the 94 was quite a bit better in the UI department. But the 770... :vomit:
Not sure what you are talking about. just hit Direct enter the fix off the touch screen or manually, press enter and go. if its part of a flight plan touch the fix or waypoint on the plan, press direct, press enter and go. it will sequence in to the flightplan. KSN is a FMS interface not a Ipad interface, if you want a Ipad spend the xtra $ on a GTN750:D.

I’ll have nothing to do with king when they won’t even make the pins for their old stuff. The pins are now $3 each and getting more expensive.
King didn't make the pins when that "old stuff" was brand new. For my KT-76A, they were from Molex - manufacturer's number 08-03-0304, series 4366. It was Molex that decided to stop making them, not King.

But, at $3 each, I should go find my bag of left over pins...

I also stopped at the Bendix King booth at OshKosh to play with their "competitor" to the GTN 750.

Ain't gonna make it. My 20 year old son could not even figure it out. Way too complex and non- intuitive to compete in today's market.

I too wanted a reason to believe in the company of my youth and young aviation years.

Not gonna happen.

Current experience 2019. I actually do not find the KSN770 hard to use as a FMS and it is better than a non-WiFI 530W or a GNS480. So that being said, I had the opportunity to purchase all new: KSN-770, KT-74 S adsb-out and a KMA-30 with install kits, wiring harnesses, 2 yr warranty for $10,300. That is how desperate a BK dealer was to move the product. I declined today simply because this is what I got from Bendix King Tech support: 1. No plans to upgrade or make compatible with current weather ADSB products not even software updates, 2. No plans to add WiFi. 3. Parts and replacements for only another 5 years. Also, what instructor would know how to teach kids to use it in flight lessons and who would say when I get ready to sell the airplane, Yes! you have a KSN770, I want that airplane...? If I could have resold the KSN770 I would have purchased just to get the KT74, but who would buy it? There is no upgrade path now or planned. At least with the 430/530W there is a way out (IFD440/540). Sad state of affairs at BK. Caveat Emptor
