So there I was, today, up on my hill with my pine needles/leaves-filled stone fire pit ablaze, when I heard a car enter my driveway. Now there are only six other houses up here in the trees and not many people know where I live midst of said trees; and I thought "I hope that's not a fire dept. member doing a routine check, considering I didn't get a burn permit."

Nope; some fellow not from this town, with a clip board and indicating he's running for State Representative(Legislature). And he outs with, "I saw you in the "Oklahoma production last year." And he continued that his mother was in the theater. "She was the Wicked Witch from the West, and Cora in the Maxwell House coffee advertising. Margaret Hamilton."

I had to think a bit. Wicked Witch from the West. The Wizard of Oz, with Judy Garland and all the others.

Anyway, he has some good ideas; I might just vote for him.

Anybody here from Hudson Valley, NY; or Texas? He was the Chair - Duchess Stadium Corp., which recruited Texas Rangers minor league team to Hudson Valley, NY and built the $8.7m stadium.

Oh, we chewed a lot of fat and burned a lot of leaves/pine needles.

Now THAT is an odd story, Harley. Margaret Hamilton's son tracking you down for a vote?!

I don't think Ham "tracked me down." His clipboard appeared to be a list of party members; and directly above my name was the name of the fellow from I bought this house.

He told me that his mother first came to Maine 40+ years ago when she was invited by Victoria Crandall to appear at Vicki's Brunswick Music Theater(now known as Maine State Music Theater).

Hey - the LAST good politician came from the acting community, rest in peace Ronnie - might be another good one in there somewhere! :)

It's cool that you talked to Margaret Hamilton's son. Too bad they couldn't lock up rights to their image in those days. He'd still have a cash flow. He may anyway. Marilyn and Rev. King's family does.

While I was putting out the trash, a lady walked up with a brochure where II could read "Melissa" and I though she was actually my U.S. rep. I would have had no qulams about telling her no dice whatsoever since she voted for the Wall Street welfare plan.

She's running for county board. I talked to her longer than she expected about the plan to tear down my house during the road widening, which she brought up. She knew it was off.

An e-mail exchange:

Wow! Great photos. Oklahoma was my mother's favorite show, which she did across country in summer stock and regional theater, and in a NYC revival at Lincoln Center. She played Aunt Eller. She would have enjoyed swapping tales with you.

All the best,
Ham

Thanks for stopping by the house(Georgetown) yesterday. Below are images of a few of my theatrical involvements:

The fact that he would find your house in search of one vote (considering how you described the remoteness), would get my vote!
