Polaris Slingshot

That looks like something Batman would have. I'll settle for that Honda CB-1100 I saw at Airventure yesterday.

Way cool!

Let me harken back and paraphrase my Mom's universal review...

"If this is the kind of thing you'd like, then you're going to like this kind of thing!"

There's a whole generation of aging bikers, many of which will someday have to admit their strength and balance is not what it once was. I think we're already seeing the effect of that in the number of trikes on the road. Its great to have so many options to keep the wind in one's face.

Both this and the Can Am Spyder would provide a lot more thrills than a trike, at about the same price point.

I could see myself on something like this in the future - looks like a hoot!

BTW, still love the two-wheeled variety (I have 3) but here's our current 3-wheeler:

That's Fast Eddie, Kool Karen and Jake the Wonder Dog about to be in a parade!

I like it. I'm not a motorcycle person, but I like the way it looks.

I am down to one, my Multi 1200.

I just love the beast, it does pretty much everything I need from a motorcycle, but could also see a Slignshot or similar in the garage. My wife drives stick, she could drive that while I ride, it would be fun.

Korean girls dig them.

No, they dig Hondas. Everything else is just an imitation. You show up at her family's house riding a Kymco, you're automatically disqualified.

Well, depending on performance, it might be a good alternative to the > 2x priced Ariel Atom.

Understood, but why not just make it a four wheeler and give it a little more comfort and load capacity. It's already more car than it is motorcycle. I have no mission for a Can Am Spyder either.

They guy I bought my BMW R45 from has a Grinnall. fun little thing to ride around in.

The key is that 3 wheels = motorcycle.

Huge difference in getting it licensed - add a 4th wheel makes it a car, subject to airbags and side impact standards and CAFE standards and Lord knows what else.

There is method to the madness.

I see.

Yup, this is how they can bring the vehicle to market at the $20k price point. It would be triple to bring it to market as a "car".

I think they should have a decent market, as most "good" motorcycles these days are in the same price range.

Motorcycles are cool, but I'll take a comfy car any day.

Make one with a convertible top, real glass roll up side windows and a baggage area to make a practical commuter and I'll get way more interested. I am surprised that more companies haven't used the three wheel "motorcycle" loop hole to bring affordable, high efficiency sport and commuter cars to the market.

20K? Who spends that kinda money a bike? Oh, never mind.... its either a Harley or a Honda/BMW Barcalounger. ugh. :D

I'm the opposite, I'd rather be on the bike, even commuting. Much more zippy and fun. Cars, even fast ones, are kinda boring.

I like it. The power to weight ratio reminded me of a Lotus Super 7. The looks remind me of the Ariel Atom (another great TG episode - flapping jowls and all...)

3-wheeled vehicle are nothing new.

What could possibly go wrong?

That was one of my favorite episodes, however the point does not apply here because the tripod orientation has been reversed which changes the geometry completely. Front wheels wide your cornering force vector has a stable base, with a central wheel, a cornering force vector has no base. Pretty much why 3 wheeler ATVs where eliminated by the insurance industry.
