Kate had a good idea in the other thread about Hayden...

Also I thought we had a member map on here before, but IIRC someone said it stopped working. If we had a good map that people could opt-in to, it'd be easier to see who might be candidates for a handoff. When I fly charters and end up all over the eastern U.S. I usually have absolutely no idea which POAers might be nearby. I'm not good at memorizing.

I have a few of these google maps, and it is easy to work with and FREE. Is there a way we can get one up with a general login that can be shared among the members? Or, if nothing else, a can a map be shared between multiple users?

Would be nice to see not just for our local area, but where people are all around the country. Hopefully, I'll make it to 6Y9 or Gastons this year in addition to a full weekend at Wings to meet more POA'rs.

It's easy to use the Google maps API to create a map.

I'm using it on my personal site: http://www.lookatthejoneses.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&view=wrapper&Itemid=46

If the powers-that-be deem it useful, I could put something together for users to put themselves on the map. Something simple would be nice: PoA Username (with link that connects to their user profile on here), Home airport identifier. ???

My airport database is out of date, though, so I would have to bug Jesse on how he got his database. ;)

Adam,.. the one in the link is giving me an error, no longer found.

Chris,.. I have a similar on my blog where I post each airport that I have landed at. I like the trip one you have, with the connecting lines. Guess I have to get out more to make the lines nice like that....

Strange I can see the link. It is to the thread that talks of the frapper map for PoA http://www.frappr.com/pilotsofamerica

um, there is so much extra cra* on that link (I'm surprised my company's
firewall/proxy didn't kill it).

Is there a map without all the falbercarb?

Works here at home, must have been something with the access from work, since I'm limited to before 8am, and 12-1 only for internet access.

Thanks! Added myself and I may add the link to my signature line too, to hopefully get more people to check it out.

Oh, ick, I went to that Frapper map thing and it's trying to get me to date international 20-something women.
