Platform 9 3/4

My best guess?

You had a browser window open and the cursor was in the address bar. Your drop caused something like "9-3/4" to end up typed in the address bar and the enter key pressed (did the keyboard happen to land on the keypad or that end of the keyboard hit first?). Your browser might be configured to automatically go to the first google result, which for 9-3/4 (for webpages) is that website.

Or it could be magic. You pick. :D

My guess is that the owl that was to deliver your letter didn't make it for whatever reason, and so they're taking alternative measures to invite you.

So does that mean I can go to Tony for my BrSEL (Broom Single Engine Land) rating, or would that only require an endorsement????
 
Hey, that's right - Hogwarts needs CFII's! All the flying in the books has been VFR. Now we can put magical instruments on the brooms and play Quidditch in IMC.

In HP-PoA (coincedence?) Harry is flying in IMC and has a near miss with a dementor. I do not think he was on a flight plan and he most certainly was not maintaining a stable heading and altitude.
 
figured it out. when the keyboard dropped key side down this got typed in to the browser:

-*9-*4

and that took me to the platform 9 3/4 website. weird.
