My truck driving brother just called and said, "Hey, my triple just passed an airplane on the Interstate."

The location is in Virgin River Gorge, Arizona, which he said is a very narrow section of that area. He's en route from St. George, Utah to Las Vegas. He said it looked like a 2 passenger plane, maybe a 4 passenger, "and whoever flew it did a great job setting her down on the Interstate." He didn't have any other information, and said to Google Virgin River Gorge. Stay tuned.

Cut to the pilot on the cellphone to his brother:
"No; I'm OK; put her down nice... but some guy driving a triple almost killed me just now..."

:D

Wow, a very narrow and windy canyon which happens to have an interstate highway running through it. The air force has lost a couple of A10's in that area.

Holy crap!!! Someone put a plane down in the Virgin River Gorge, and lived to tell about it???? :hairraise:

I'll have to wait to see the pics to see if it's really IN the Gorge, but... Well, picture an interstate without a median (Jersey barriers), winding back and forth (the curves are posted at 45-55 mph), with vertical walls immediately next to the edges of the road. So, a windy canyon that's less than 100 feet wide! :hairraise: :hairraise: :hairraise:

As an example... Here's a picture from the Virgin River Gorge:

Virgin River Gorge - the only place and time I've ever experienced vertigo ... driving south on I-15 in the afternoon ... the sun highlighted the layers just like the photo above, only brighter ... really threw me for a loop ...
