Final Approach
I have very small amount of XC experience, but I have learned a few things about PIREP.
When you provide a PIREP to Center - that may or may not go over the FSS. I provide PIREP on every leg and then try to find it on skyvector - I don't. I also called FSS and asked that if I provide the PIREP to the center do you guys get that? she flat out said workload permitting, but more often than not, we don't.
next I started calling FSS after every flight to close the FP and told them... on the ground, smooth ride, close plan. checked sky vector - nopes, nada
last I tried called FSS after landing, told them I would like to close the flight plan and I have PIREP. the lady closed the flight plan first, then asked me about PIREP. provided at 5500 -ve turb, -ve ice. found that on skyvector
so... do you guys provide PIREP and to whom? how frequently? as a new pilot I spend better part of the day at work dreaming about XC on skyvector and I don't find much PIREPs unless they are serious in nature, like a IFR day and Icing PIREP. every now and then I will find one -ve icing, -ve turn etc. but generally I don't find much. could be a area thing, but I would guess as pilots we can do better and make each other's life a little easy by providing more PIREPs?
