Both aircraft fit my mission, I need the space and useful load. However, I have never flown a 337 and all that are for sale are at considerable distance. Can any of you with experience offer up any advice? Thank you

JCC, an introduction would be a good way to start post 1 on POA...

Welcome to POA! I think the PA-32 would be cheaper to own. Unless there are concerns about flying over terrain you just don't feel comfortable flying in single engines, and/or cruise speed differentials are inconsequential to your mission radius, I'd go with the Six. You don't specifcy which -32, as there are FG and retracts, hershey bar and semi tapered. And price points from the 260 powered all the way to the turbo retract saratoga.

Thank you so much for the input.

The 337s are rather intriguing but the low prices did put up a red warning flag but I wanted some 2nd opinions thinking that the unusual looks might be the low price factor.

My search journey went from Lance to Saratoga to finally thinking a 1979 Cherokee 6 might be the ticket. I prefer the shorter takeoff/landing, higher ceiling, better fuel economy and higher useful load of the 6, are there any counterpoints in favor of the other 2 that I am missing?

The other options are a cirrus SR22/20 or a Socata TB20. Perhaps more fun to fly when just solo/couple 60% of the time. However, these would be a tight squeeze for the whole family and our large dog. Also, I have a hard time imagining grandma etc.climbing up on the wing for egress.

FYI, the only planes for rent in my town are 172s so buying a 4 seater and renting a 6 seater only when needed is not really an option. Mooney and bos are just to tight for me, 6’4" 200lbs.

Just purchased a 1975 PA-32/300 thanks for the advice!

Congrats! They're a load hauler for sure! I'm sure you'll appreciate all the room.

We've had 4 people (my wife, 2 adult kids and myself) and our golden retrieve in my TB20. It's doable, but not comfortable, wouldn't want the flight to be much more than 1.5 hrs. I guess it doesn't bother me....wifey is the one that has to deal with the dog on her lap!

Where you at with this hause of a plane? Care to embarrass me with the useful load?

Man, that didn't take long. I think it took me 3 years of pondering to move up from one airplane to the next and I still look at Trade-A-Plane even after the purchase.

Okay, let's see some pictures of the new bird! Congrats!!

But the 337 is really cool looking...

They do look really cool.....

Most the time, they are on jacks or sinking into the ramp though. The only worse plane to have is an Eclipse.
