Pilots of America Member Map *

I see planes but no blue flame and I still have my airplane downtown Tucson on top of the Chase Bank building.

I turned off the blue flame and deleted Timbeck2 in Tucson. Do Midcap and 455Bravo see planes now?

Well, when you're good, you're good. (exhales on fingertips, brushes them against chest)

Edit: I managed to fly off the building and land exactly where my plane is on the airport BUT I'm now flying some sort of star instead of the airplane 2 I selected. Aunt Peggy, would you be so kind?

Edit2: Never mind, I got it.

If you guys who could not see a blue flame would let me know what system (iPhone, what else?) you are using for viewing, I'll send in a bug report to ZeeMaps.

BTW, the blue flame is now extinguished on our map. So, if you don't see it now, that's OK. I'm asking those who could not see it earlier -- while it was still in use.

Wow. It's November already. Eleven more POA members have put themselves on our map in the month of September. Less than two months left to get on the map this year. (No prizes, sorry.)

Three new entries on the POA member map in November 2016. None in December, none in January 2017. Halfway past February 2017 and none yet. What's going on? Or more importantly, what's not going on?

Thanks for handling the map admin stuff AuntPeggy. Thought I'd post to this thread to see what newbies might take notice so they can think "Hey neat" and publish their targeting coordinates. :D

Nobody in Antarctica yet. And nobody in Russia.

Of course, the Russians don't need to be members in order to post. ;)

Done. I was a little apprehensive, that it is pilots of AMERICA and I live in Norway, but I AM still an American citizen so I figured ok. Now I see many from other countries are here too. Good!

I love this! Great to see where pilots are in areas I might like to fly to, to get a local download/tips and tricks/etc. (AKBill, got my eye on you)

Is Aunt Peggy still coming around these parts?
Hello, guys. Sorry about dropping out. I had eye surgery because cataracts did a pretty good job of keeping me from seeing. Then, following the surgery, I could not read because they inserted lenses that changed my vision from near-sighted to far-sighted. And, then, we immediately went to California for a month while Hubby got training as a Light Sport maintenance mechanic with inspection certification. (I'm not sure what the exact title is. It means he can fix my plane and yours, too if it is Light Sport.) I had really limited access to a computer. Enough about me.

So, anyway, there were no additions to the map until sferguson524 asked about the map on May 12. On that date, 12 additional entries were made. Thanks to sferguson for stepping in. No more additions since then. https://www.zeemaps.com/map?group=451754

Do I put my home or my airport?

Do I put my home or my airport?
You choose. Some people have multiple bases/airplanes, and they put in the airport. Some others feel it makes sense to use the airport just because... However, some prefer to use their home. I feel any decision on my part would be arbitrary, so I leave it to you to decide.

To extend on what Aunt Peggy says:

The original map (long defunct) was presumably provided for the simple utility of quickly determining what PoA members live near you. Useful for social (and even anti-social) purposes. For those purposes a precise location isn't needed, just place a marker in the general area you live or fly. Also, I don't believe there is any limit to the number of markers anyone may place, so feel free to mark home and airport.

Not unsurprisingly, the map also provides an idea of the global scope (or limits thereof) of PoA readers.

19 more entries in May on our member map. https://www.zeemaps.com/map?group=451754

Happy Fourth. Yes, I know that I'm late again. But, I'm having lots of fun this spring/summer. Flew with Hubby to California in the Light Sport this spring. Spring is right!. Bouncing over the windy desert, the Sierras, and Rockies convinced us that the Light Sport baby plane is not the ride for extended cross-country travel. Then decided to go to Connecticut and get back in touch with old friends there. [All my friends are old friends.] Well trusty old Skyhawk Romeo had a sudden depressurization in her nosegear and her two year old battery was flat. So, since we had a non-postponable event to attend, trusty Romeo was replaced by our trusty Toyota Scion. sigh. Anyway, we visited with great flying buddies and Hubby got up to date with all his BFR, IPC, etc. reviews in said buddy's plane. Now we are good to go to OSH as soon as Romeo gets off her knee. Then, we also received an invite to Tennessee for the eclipse. Wowee. So, I hope you are in the mood to forgive my lapses in giving you update news about the map.

The month of June, four POA citizens added themselves to our member map.

It's already August. Oshkosh is over and Gaston's will not be until October. Does anyone know if the 6Y9 fly-in will occur around Labor Day this year?

During the month of July 2017, six additions were made to the POA map. https://www.zeemaps.com/map?group=451754

September is here. In August, only 2 members added themselves to our member map. https://www.zeemaps.com/map?group=451754
  • GeorgeC in Washington, District Of Columbia
  • SteveCostello in St. Louis

August was a busy month, with the sun swallowed up by the moon and then spit out, Oshkosh, and beautiful (hot) days for flying. Now we have Al Gore telling us that Mother Nature is mad and Harvey and Irma punctuating his sentences. And Labor Day just passed. Ah well, the urchins are back in school, again.

It is February. I'm so grateful that it is the shortest month of the year. I'm so ready for this winter to be over. Hubby has had a cold since Christmas and my cold is in its second week. Wonderful neighbors came over with a couple of gallons of home-made chicken soup. Thank you, thank you, thank you. They had noticed we hadn't pulled out either plane over several perfectly wonderful flying days, so they assumed we were under the weather.

Anyway, I know you are waiting to learn about the Pilots of America map. Here it is.: https://www.zeemaps.com/map?group=451754

We had four new entries in January:
  • Jeff Boehm: Lake Worth, 33467
  • N1431A: Salome, Arizona
  • Jeff Allegro: Upper Lake, California
  • tspin: Sanford, Florida

Folks, I cannot see well enough to update you on our map. As soon as I have some minor laser work, I'll do February and March. Meantime, if you want your location on the map, feel free to use the link in my previous messages.
