Pilots Guilty of Being Drunk in Cockpit

Isn't that the rule at America West? No smoking within 12 hours of flying, no drinking within 50' of an aircraft...

What a dumb way to end your career.

BOTH DUI -they both didn't even have the courtesy to keep one of them as the "designated pilot" ? They deserve at least as bad as what they are getting.

{The DA} cited testimony that both pilots performed flight checks for 30 minutes before the jet left the gate. When questioned by police on the day of their arrest, she said both pilots answered "yes" when asked if they had been operating an aircraft.
That's the first I'd heard anyone mention in the media the simple fact we all knew - they had to do a LOT before pushback relating to operating the plane. Good for her!

Good call on the jury's part too. Considering the danger had the pilots actually taken off, I think the maximum sentence is called for.

We need the strongest message possible sent to other pilots - this won't be tolerated.

My $0.02.
