Pilot Removed From UAL Flight

Airline pilots are human like the rest of us. When I was flying we had a few doozies. Most of them eventually get help that they need. Some get asked to resign, some fired.

They never got me though! :goofy::rofl:

Only on United. On Spirit, they look in your lunch bag as you board for the crews in flight meals. They eagerly look for coleslaw and doughnuts, but only those produced in Hawaii.

You talk big but you were the guy who was rarely seen and never heard from, showHmphed up every day early with your shirt freshly starched and a flight bag that was shined with boot polish :D:D

More like a flight bag with numerous layers of duct tape and Bama stickers on it (yeah that was me)! But yeah, my shirt was always starched. But I never wore that friggin' hat

Now there is a guy looking forward to his divorce. 1/2 of her pension as lump-sum and getting away from her.

How much you wanna bet she hitched up with another pilot?..... prolly a young FO. Found out he was drilling the crew at crash pads and she found out. Or, could be the inverse or a combination of both. Either way, I'd like to see some amateur video.

I'm a Flight Manager (Superintendent) for a huge Airline and the s**t that rolls through here would fill a book!

I could tell you a few about this one...nuts...our kids went on the same School trip to London together...her and my wife both Chaperoned and shared the same hotel room for the trip...running joke for a while was we not only knew her but my wife slept with her...she had some real weird quirks...

UA issued a $50 credit to the passenger's for their inconvenience. Boy that was generous....:(

:needpics: ....if not pictures, then words are welcomed! Do tell, we won't tell anyone else.

Hey, I showed up out of uniform last week! Well, technically out of uniform compliance since I forgot my tie. Put my shirt on, threw my sweater on and completely skipped the tie. Didn't notice it til I was on the plane.

Not sure anyone noticed. No divorce and no rant so I think I'm good.

No doubt you could. I worked briefly with several participants in that fiasco (well beforehand) and was pretty surprised by it.

Nauga,
that engineer-about-town

I did that once. Flew on Delta commuting, and when I got to the crew lounge, realized I forgot the tie. CP office said no biggie, we have spares for people like me.

Crap now there's 2 that have checked in w/ good stuff but won't share. :cryin::cryin::cryin:

She failed to check off all items on her IMSAFE checklist.

Pure speculation, but isn't that what POA is for?

Given her rant, I'd suspect more than a divorce was bothering her.

This article linked to the first one is just as bad: "...terrified passengers were pinned to the ceiling and thought they were going to die." I just can't figure why people don't fly their own airplanes.

No. Bad judgment isn't necessarily a medical issue.
It sounded like a mental breakdown to me. I'm glad it didn't occur mid-flight like that Jet Blue captain who had to be locked out of the cockpit by the FO a few years ago.

The second I saw "United Pilot" I immediately thought of Greg Bockelman. The second I saw "rant" I immediately thought of myself.

Some folks react like that if they take a benzodiazepine during the day. E.g. A sleeping aid or an anti-anxiety drug.
