I had my SLR in my car and I for the first time I decided to take it along for a very short flight around the pattern in the school's 1946 J-3 Cub.

A few snapshots from around the pattern and a bunch of static photos taken after the flight, on the ground.

Beautiful pics. I've wanted to bring a DSLR with me for some time and I keep forgetting. A phone is great if it is all you have, but I think you were able to do much better work with a real camera =)

Nice pictures but what's with the 6.00x6 wheels with disc brakes. You gotta have the 8.00x4s with the ****ty Goodyear brakes to get the full experience. Don

Those are 8.00x4 tires/wheels with Grove disc conversion.

I should have looked closer, I just saw the discs. That is a good conversion. The Goodyear brakes had marginal stopping power even when they were working perfectly and now you can almost do the Grove conversion for the cost of one set of Goodyear pucks. That looks like a nice Cub. I used to fly a friend's 1940 J-3. It was stone stock with a 65 and no electrical system. Pure flying at its best. Don
