Photo that took 30 years to make..

Very cool.

Last week I was digging out old pictures, pieces of the SRB of STS-3, a photo I took at LC 39A earlier that night, etc. for a photoshoot by the local paper. Then ended up only using one photo for the article. I reminisced with the reporter for maybe two hours about that first launch. It is so hard to think about that being thirty years ago!!

Man.

I remember my dad telling me, on the day before the night when the Apollo 11 guys walked the moon, that he would not possibly allow me to sleep that night (I'd asked if he'd allow me to stay up for it).

Never got to see a Shuttle launch, and can't spend time with my dad any more.

Nice picture.

I lived in Orlando from June of 79 to September of 83. During that time a friend my wife worked with got a vehicle pass for on of the launches and about a dozen of us pitched in to rent an RV for the day and drove over for the launch. It was quite a sight to see, something I'll never forget.

Where you in the ITL area? That is where I was watching. It would hilarious if it turned out that you and I had meet years ago and just did not know it.

Excellent! Thanks for sharing.

Makes me wonder if Jay H. has any like this of him and his kids from their repeated OSH adventures.

Ha! The son looks to be as distracted by the girls in the audience now as he was then. ;-)

Very cool.

Oh and how politically incorrect on the gawking at girls comment. Maybe he was gawking at the other guys in the crowd. Diversity and rainbows and all that, you know. :nono:

Or perhaps he's the artsy type and is "gazing into the future".

Most likely dad drags him to things he has no interest in, and has for 30 years. :(

I believe the Honecks take a family portrait outside the gate every year.
