Actually, I don't think I've ever used the first or the fourth one at all.

I do tend to over-use smilies somewhat but you don't ever see anyone getting confused about the intent of my posts, do you? Comes from being on Usenet and other online forums since 1993.

Of course, that would mean that all the conservatives would naturally gravitate toward that forum. We might even have a fair argument in there once in a while.
