Does anyone know of a personal umbrella insurance policy with no aviation exclusions?

I am skeptical that such a thing exists, but I've heard rumors.

Mine is through USAA and no exclusion. I understand they wander in and out of the aviation exclusion business.

What if I have no association with the armed forces? That seemed to be a requirement for USAA coverage, right?

Yes, but they've relaxed it a lot recently and if a family member served you can join.

I'd recommend just calling the insurance company you use for other stuff and telling them what you want and asking them to quote it.... If they won't do it they'll likely have a referral for you.

Have you checked with Chubb? Don't know that they'd do a standalone umbrella but it's worth a shot.

I've had a USAA Umbrella for years, they told when I got it that aviation was excluded.

I'll have to call and see about that.

I currently have GEICO - auto insurance and umbrella. When I asked about a policy without an aviation exclusion, the phone agent (and her supervisor) were equally clueless...

I have an umbrella policy through USAA too. I just pulled up my policy to see what it says and found this:

This insurance does not apply to property damage to:
1. Property owned by any insured.
2. Any aircraft owned, hired, rented or used by, or in the care, custody or
control of, any insured.

G. This insurance does not apply to bodily injury, property damage or personal
injury:

3. Arising out of:
a. The ownership, maintenance, use, loading or unloading of; or
b. The entrustment of any insured of; or
c. Vicarious liability, whether or not statutorily imposed, for the actions of anyone using; an aircraft or hovercraft

As a side note, it also excludes rental property, so I'm not sure how much value it really has but it's cheap enough I guess, $150/year.
4. Arising out of the rental or holding for rental of any part of any premises,
including any real property or real estate, by any insured.

USAA has a commission sharing deal with Falcon (? I think)

Ok, so I think an umbrella policy without aviation exclusion might be a myth....

I have a policy with Electric Insurance but my plane is owned in a LLC and so they said it was not covered. They did say if I owned the plane it would be covered.

Mine doesn't have these, but I pay $300. Had it for about 20 years. Last year, I re-quoted my life insurance they told me they don't even have aviation exclusions on their life policies. I don't know their current thinking but it might be worth a call....Great company!

That requirement has been really relaxed. Now about all you need to have done is watched a movie with a veteran in it, played with or owned a GI Joe, or at least once have been a carbon based life form on 11 November.
