I just saw two banner-towing planes fly in close formation along the Hudson river (SFRA) in 3SM –SN… wonder why anyone would do it?

Yeah I took a job towing banners once. The owner almost killed us twice trying to show me how to hook up to the banner, so I left.

I also wonder why people want to tow banners.

Asked another way, what is the attraction of towing banners?

Money
Time building
Flying along the beach in good weather.
And it can be done by pilots without a commercial rating under certain conditions.
