The employees better hang on to the money. The buyers will lay them all off soon.

But the big corporate conglomerate that bought them said they wouldn't do that - would they not tell the truth? :nono:

Yes, that is sarcasm.

Something good out of Chicago.

Something good out of Chicago. Its a shame in this time of stories about corporate bailouts, the crummy economy, store empolyees getting trampled that something like this has to be stuck buried on some internet news page. I'd think its a non-union shop but in Chicagoland I think as here in Philly that would be hard to come by. This is just the way business should be.

Re: Something good out of Chicago.

FYI it is located in the city Waukegan, which is not even in the same county as Chicago. We can still keep thinking ill of Chicago! :)

Yeah, but those of us in the same county are still also allowed to think ill of Waukegan, although neighboring North Chicago and some other towns are worser. Waukegan is the county seat.

Waukegan, home town of Jack Benny, on the short list for the last casino license, which will go to da boyz in Rosemont. :mad3: Daley will get another "last" license for Chicago.

Touche Scott!

Also there was a company in Mass I think near New Bedford. The company was a textile mfg that made polar fleece. The Factory burned to the ground and the family that owned the Factory continued to pay the employees while they rebuilt.

Sold the company. Original owner cared and arranged a bonus for the employees most likely as part of the sellout package deal. Big company bought them out for most likely a whopping pile. New company said most will be allowed to keep their jobs.

That sounds very very familiar.

BTDT. Just wait until the previous owner turns his back. That ride is so over - it just hasn't come to a complete stop yet. The christmas giving season is about to begin and corporate will be very generous in giving them lots and lots of time off...forever.

Current employees should see if the merged comany touted cost savings by "synergies" or "combining back office or HR staffs." Both mean that the existing employees are not needed. What's wierd in my experience is when they mean the people at the acquiring company can go because the common knowledge, as any manger will happily agree with nodding heads when a consultant says it, "you know your people are all worthless idiots." No matter that the worthless ones earned the company enough money to buy the other guys.

The only thing these guys can hope for is if the company in Sweden doesn't already have any people in the U.S. to take care of payroll and such. Production can always be moved out of the U.S.
