Geek on the Hill
This is just one of about a million recipes for the quintessential Italian pauper food.
Ingredients:
One pound pasta
One can of beans (cannellini are the most customary; black beans are used in the version in the picture)
One cup of olive oil
One tablespoon butter
One onion, chopped or sliced
White wine to taste
Spices to taste (garlic powder, salt, pepper, and grated cheese are usual. Be creative, though!)
Boil some water in a big pot.
In a smaller pot, dump everything else except the beans and heat slowly.
When the oil and such is warm, throw the beans in the pot and let the mixture simmer for a while. Then put the pasta in the boiling water and cook it until it is is al dente.
Strain the pasta and dump it in a large bowl. Then pour the stuff in the little pot on top of it, and mix it up.
