Let's say, if some lucky jerk with MEII rating but no turbine experience was given the chance to fly part 91 in a Global 5000 as SIC, what would be required of him prior to getting type rated? Can he still fly as SIC if PIC is type rated and has ATP? What about high alt and perf endorsements? This is of course, if money was no issue and you could do touch-n-go's all day...
 
61.55 outlines SIC and SIC Type Rating requirements.

High altitude and high performance endorsements are in 61.31, but basically only apply to the PIC.

You don't need a type rating to fly as SIC in a Global. It also doesn't matter if the PIC has an ATP if it's Part 91, although he or she must be type rated.
 
Soooooo... this guy can essentially step right into the jet and fly as SIC without any formal Type training as long as it is a domestic operation? Then eventually go someplace like flightsafety to get type rated? (For non-domestic flights and Insurance stuff)

You can sit there, but you can't log it.

Inside the USA, that's true. Go international, and it's not -- many countries do require the SIC type rating for visiting SIC's of type-rated aircraft, even of US registry. In fact, it was French insistence on that which led to the creation of SIC type ratings in Part 61.

No. As noted above, see 61.55 for the details. You can start your SIC training in type without any prior in-type experience, but there are strict limits on the carriage of passengers/cargo until you complete your 61.55 SIC training.
