Paris attack.... how might we protect ourselves?

Actually I think this is going to be more like when we armed ISIS to take out Assad, or put Saddam Hussein in power, or like when we armed and trained people like Bin Laden, or when we carved up the middle east after WWI, and so on.

This interventionist stuff blows back up in our faces more often than not. I see it as throwing money and lives down the toilet.

And I see that course of action as a grave error. So, here we are.

But I would add that toppling this regime is far different than arming proxies, if done the way that I would do it.

Not like it matters what we think. If you look at the crop of jokers most likely to land in the white house next year the one thing we can be certain of is that there won't be anyone competent at the helm.

Immigration in our country has always been controlled. People have come here all the time looking for a better life. People who don't have money, who just scraped enough up to pay for the trip over and to apply for the necessary paperwork.
Actually it hasn't always been controlled. And what makes you think refugees wouldn't have the proper paperwork? If you request and are granted asylum here you are just as "legal" as the next person.

And the local news here in DC is reporting members of congress and staff are being urged to use underground tunnels between buildings rather than walk outside "out of an abundance of caution".

Abundance of caution...

These security first ******* make me want to puke.

I've got nothing more to add here..

Can't be worse then the present regime.

I never said the refugees did not have the proper approval. My objection is that we are currently planning to bring in 100,000 people per year from an area rife with terrorist groups. For reasons I stated earlier, it's a major national security problem.

Bingo.

I never said they shouldn't be vetted. These people are running away from the conflict not trying to bring it here. Of course some bad people may slip through but that is true with any groups of people, even native born citizens.

How do we vet them? are there reliable sources that can be used?

what do we do if we don't have reliable sources?

It seems as if we have the means to do it. When attacks happen we often hear that some of the people were on a list or were being observed.

I'm OK with no guarantees, though.

OK we'll get them vetted and send them over to your house to live. It isn't about getting vetted it is about a large volume of people incongruent with same sex marriage. Your alcohol will have to go as well. As for them not being one race that is true, but they are of one IQ range. Go look up IQ by geographic area then ask yourself if we should seed the west with these people. Conspiracy theory has it as white genocide, via violence, displacement, and out breeding. Wipe out the white man no more electricity, clean running water or gasoline, should be fun to watch.

I have a friend who is a recently retired Army special forces Lt. Colonel, now an airline pilot. Some on the board know him. He spent a lot of time in Iraq and also Somalia, training and working out in the field with the troops. According to him, a significant percentage of the people he trained and worked with were probably bad guys. Its been 2 years since we had this conversation in the FBO, he gave me a ratio and I believe it was 1 in 10. If we can't be sure about people we are giving weapons to and training, how can we vet 100,000 refugees per year. That is the number we are currently planning to bring here in 2016.

It only takes a few determined people to do a lot of damage, as we know unfortunately. If 2% of the 100,000 people we let in each year sympathize with radical islam, and just 2-3 dozen are actual bona fide terrorists, that will cause major carnage here in the near and distant future. That is a realistic number, in fact I think its conservative.

I don't have a same-sex spouse, I don't drink alcohol, and I'm not white, so I guess I have nothing to worry about.

The internet tough guys are the ones who are scared.

They are probably on that list simply because of their travels to or from places like Syria.

I do wonder if the guy on the front row made it out alive ;)

you might want to look at the characteristics of the victims of the attacks by those pondscum pigs.

And you aren't a happy participant in western civilization apparently. It isn't about our individual deaths, it is the death of western civilization. Why isn't there an abundance of cities and suburbs with clean water electricity and paved roads in Syria? Goodbye indoor plumbing how we loved you so. Oh but think of the burkhas you'll get to wear.

Well hell.. There is your problem right there....;);)..

That puts a CHINK in your armor....

Oh my, the death of western civilization! All because we take a few refugees who are fleeing from the conflict.

100k per year. On 9/11, only took 19 people to kill 3,000 here in one day. If 99.998 percent are not terrorists, that's still 200 terrorists we've just brought inside our country. In 2016 alone.

In the late 60s, Lebanon was predominantly christian. It was the Paris of the ME. They let in 'a few refugees'. The rest is one of the ugliest periods of destabilized mayhem in history.

Yes, I know the US is bigger, yes I know we aren't Beirut.

How many women comm pilots do you suppose there are in the ME?

You'll be shocked when it happens to you, or the next generation, since you're beyond hope already. Sickening.

Not so far behind us after all.

I don't think anyone is opposed to refugees. But let's be smart about it, they need to be vetted. This isn't rocket science.

These four young women are on a military mission as young lieutenants in the Afghan army. They have been tasked by their home nation of Afghanistan with not only perfecting their English language skills but also in breaking new ground as military helicopter pilots in a progressing Afghan air force -- while the world is watching.

Still no comm female pilots from the ME. Tick tock.

Ectually, I believe I am mistaken. I do recall hearing about a 2nd officer female from the ME after all. Yes, I actually remember hearing about her job.

She's at El Al.... :yes::yes::yes:

Here's a Iraqi...

http://english.alarabiya.net/en/per.../06/06/Iraq-gets-first-ever-female-pilot.html

Iraq’s Ministry of Transportation announced that an Iraqi young woman has become the country’s first female commercial airline pilot, according to Arab media reports on Friday.

The ministry’s media office said in a press release on its website is that “Dalia, an Iraqi woman, has received a pass after completing her qualifying courses to become the first Iraqi woman to fly a civilian aircraft,” also adding that “this makes her an accepted and welcomed member of Iraqi Airways.”

And some Iranians...

In Iran, the civilian pilot training began approximately 15 years after Iran acquired its first aircraft for the air force 1939. Flying was supposed to be exclusively in men's domain.Despite of all odds 22 women registered at the Iranian Aero Club. EffatTejartchi, SadiqehFarrokhzadDowlatshi and Ina Avshid were among the first pioneers who applied for flying and EffatTejartchi became the first woman to register as a pilot student. Since then several Iranian women have become pilots and have worked as flight trainees; presently several female pilots are flying the international commercial planes 747s.Bahareh Bozorgzadegan is an Iranian pilot Airbus. Following is an interview with her about her job.

And some Pakistanis...

http://www.aljazeera.com/news/asia/2013/06/201361365926729911.html

Pakistan's first war-ready female fighter pilot has said she is ready to defend her country, and sees no difference between herself and her male colleagues when it comes to "precision bombing".

Ayesha Farooq, from Punjab province's city of Bahawalpur, is one of 25 women who have become pilots in the Pakistan Air Force over the last decade.

Out of the 25, there are five other female fighter pilots who have yet to take the final tests to qualify for combat, news agencies said on Thursday. Non-fighter pilots fly slower aircraft, ferrying troops and equipment around the country.

Yeah, those Muslim countries don't allow women to be pilots... :rolleyes2:

Iraqis were given all the training, money and equipment they could want from the US in order to establish protection and borders for their country after we pulled our troops out. They sympathized with or sold out to ISIS. Better equipment, better training, would not fight.

Iran is building nuclear weapons and their politicians are running on the death to america/western civilization platform.

Pakistan had Osama Bin Laden living there and forgot to tell us.

These people are not our friends, and don't belong here.
