I Know a place the president can place all the 10,000 refugees. It's called Adak. Ak. or Shimmia will work too.
Well, if you want to call me a liar, put your money where your mouth is.
$1000 says I have a concealed weapons permit.
Put your money where your mouth is, or shut it up. Either way is good for me.
Oh goody. Then you are a troll.
which is it?
Looks like France wasted no time.
They are apparently bombing the s*** out of ISIS in Syria

That is a nice gesture. Shows some spine. Tactically worthless the enemy already lives amongst them.

Both of you need to stop it here.
Doesn't mean squat. speciality when you ask questions that show you would fire at some one who you don't know is the target you need to kill.
I understand your sentiment , but the practical matter is who in Syria are you going to call to background check? There is no way to "vet" these refugees. If you make the decision to hold off for a "proper background check", you may as well close the door. The rest is window dressing.
Exactly. What's wrong with closing the door?
There is another place, but it's gonna be a tight fit.
Exactly.
Was retarded to open it in the first place. It ain't congruent with western values but Europe and the US need a good old fashioned round up and deportation. Because some cultures are not compatible with western civilization. We can have diversity or western civilization but not both.
Exactly.

" . . . those people were out for a night on the town. They were not thinking about terrorism or rushing bad guys or anything like that."
The ones at the Bataclan were there to enjoy the artistry of Eagles of Death Metal. This is what happens when you have poor taste in music.

Phoenix summed up pretty well my take on all of this.
"some cultures are not compatible with western civilization. We can have diversity or western civilization but not both."
Did those who think the sorry state of Muslim societies, both rich and poor, are due to Western societies' lack of understanding or generosity not get the point of the video in the earlier post in this thread? 74% of Muslim residents in the UK are in complete disagreement with the values of the society that have given them refuge. Same with those in France. Same with, etc. etc.
Advanced societies are committing cultural suicide by not reproducing perhaps but to hasten this end by opening the gates to this sorry lot could easily have been the inspiration for the Walking Dead trope that is so strangely popular. Japan is in this situation but have more sense of who they are than to allow their land to be despoiled by hoardes of braindead "believers" and their medieval baggage. Henning is right. Our culture, what's left of it after over thirty years of rap crap and pc hypocrisy, is too corrupt to last much longer. The Walking Dead are at the gates. I just want the ones who want to let them in get bit first.
Sad, all of it.
. It ain't congruent with western values
You said it quite well. Might as well pull down the statue of liberty, and tear up a 250 year history of being a beacon freedom and liberty.
I would like to see where the 74% figure came from, and what was defined as "values".

Wait what? We wouldn't have a country if it weren't open in the first place. I'd guess your ancestors wouldn't be here if it weren't open in the first place...

We can't have freedom and liberty if we allow those into the country who want to take that away from us.
Oh you mean politicians? Well, no argument there...
"closing the door" means what? no more immigration at all?
"closing the door" means what? no more immigration at all?
Then, let's make it a little easier for guys like JeffDG to become US citizens. We need people like him, that add value to our country. Non-merit immigration is slowly killing us.
***** I'm hoping we can keep this out of the spin zone by keeping the politics out of it. *********
So the carnage appears to be over in Paris, 100+ murdered. I sit here and I think about it and I wonder is there anything one could do if they found themselves in this position. For suicide bombers, there is probably very little one can do, seems that unless you spot the bomber, it is over before you know it.
But I think about those people at the concert venue. Two, three, four or maybe five gunmen in a crowd of hundreds, and they manage to kill a hundred. Does it really need to be like that? I don't want to take away from the deceased at all when discussing this, what happened to them is tragic, and not their fault.
The first instinct when confronted with something like this is to duck and run. And that is a good instinct, but sometimes it doesn't work. I just think about hundreds of people cowering, and waiting to see if their time is up, while cowards with guns pick people off. I think we need to change how we react.
Soft targets, that what they are calling them. I think we need to collectively understand that when we gather in a crowd, we are all soft targets. So how do we change? Arm everyone is a one possible solution, but maybe not a good one. In the case of the concert, I'm sure alcohol was being served, most municipalities ban carrying guns when consuming alcohol and that is a good idea. So arming ourselves in many cases is not answer.
I really think the way to stop these attacks is to adopt an attitude that overtook Flt 93. When they realized that the hijackers were going to kill them all, they fought back.
In Paris, in one venue, it was about five against fifteen hundred. What if instead of following instinct and ducking and running, potential victims instead rushed the attackers. Yes some would get killed, but they were probably going to get killed anyway. Eventually the cowards with the guns could be overpowered and dealt with. It just seems to me it would be better to die fighting back rather than cowering and hiding.
In order to do something like this we have to think about it and discuss it ahead of time as for most it is not a natural thing to do, run straight at danger. But times have changed. What do you think?
edit: Added in numbers I just saw about the concert venue.
You jumped the shark, Bob. Chip's point was that you can't "vet" these Syrian refugees. Therefore, we should close the door on these refugees.
I would go further to say that we should stop all refugee visas, period. At least for the next decade - let the world instability sort itself out offshore.
Further, we should stop all tourist and other visas from people of middle-eastern origin. Sorry, we are under no obligation to let anyone in.
While we're at it, let's stop all visas until we get biometric information on them, and then strictly enforcing the terms of visas; anyone found overstaying a visa (traffic stop, or whatever) gets deported to their country of origin within 24 hours.
Lastly, build the ****ing southern border wall, as the law currently requires.
Has this been posted yet?
While we're stopping all of these "dangerous" refugees let's ground all GA aircraft until each pilot can be fully "Vetted" and lets inspect each flight before they fly which they must file a request to fly 90 days in advance. You never know when a terrorist might be using a GA airplane
We did that, new restrictions on flight training for non-us citizens after 9/11. All must pass a DHS vetting process. I had to bring my passport in as a US citizen, in order to start flight training.
