Only four phone booths left in Manhattan

Which begs the question. What would Maxwell Smart have done to access Control in the cell phone age?

Where will all the reporters run to after the verdict is announced?

Yeah, but it's worse in China. Whereas in the United States there is an average of two telephones for every resident, in China there is only one telephone for every 10,000 citizens. Do the math and that's still a lot of telephones.

The problem became such that there were so many citizens named Wong and Wing that if more telephones were authorized into operation there would be a jammed system because too many would wing the wong #. And so, the solution . . . . . . . .

Holy cow.. I have tears in my eyes from laughing so hard..

And who will understand that gag in Airplane?

What's crazy is that something that was once so much a part of the fabric of American life now looks so out of place! I looked at the pictures and thought, "Man, those things look like crap just standing there."

How quickly we forget.....

FYI Harley there is one mobile phone for every 2 people in China. The actual penetration rate is 50.7%. People are actually dropping their fixed lines in favor of mobile lines there.

In Hong Kong (part of China) the mobile phone penetration rate is over 160%

I know you were joking. But I do want to point out that China is a rather amazing place for telecom and technology in general.

It's my understanding that in many developing countries (which never had a high percentage of wired service to consumers) wireless often far exceeds the penetration of hardwired service. I suppose in such cases a vast majority of the population never learned to depend on hardwired home service and therefore has no qualms about abandoning it like we seem to have in the US.

They had REALLY BAD hardwired service, courtesy of their governments. Not being a jerk, it's true. Take France (please!!) for example. Ever seen the anvils they call home telephones??? Mobile telephony was bound to succeed first in places with the worst phone systems.

About the same number of public toilets in Manhattan....

I think there are more than that... some company installed those automatic pay toilets around town

What's Superman gonna do now?

Sure hope he doesn't have to **** into the wind...
Don't pull the mask off the old lone ranger...
And I sure hope he don't mess around with Jim...

These pictures are from India, maybe wireless is a good idea.

Where is Superman changing his clothes?

What's Superman gonna do now?

How are Bill and Ted going to complete their history report?

Where are the bums gonna pee?

Where will the mafia gun down informants?

Where will all the reporters run to after the verdict is announced?

And worst of all... How are we all going to get out of the Matrix?!? :hairraise:

Thanks for the technological update, Scott. Even our little old Georgetown has a telephone booth, though a little updated.
