Not sure why I didn't think of this sooner.
I have been wanting to upgrade to a larger computer monitor.

Well Mrs. 6PC finds a TV on craigslist or somewhere for free because there is no sound. I have separate sound so enter my new free 32 inch computer monitor.

I looked on craigslist and there are so many people giving their TVs away free. Should have done this a long time ago. You can see the 17 inch I had been using.

At any rate, thought I would pass this along. Seems like a no brainer in hindsight.

I tried to give away a couple TVs a couple months ago. Nope, couldn't do it. They were not 56 foot flat screen so even people without a Tv didn't want one.

They were the old big picture tube type. Really clear, I brought one home with me for the office.

Good grief..... a 17 inch monitor is too big for me... Your going to have to get the kids to watch separate corners so you don't miss anything...:rofl::rofl:

Did those two ugly kids come with the TV..:dunno:.....:D....

Ben ( ducks and runs)....;)

Shhhhhhh.
We are going to wait until they are older to tell them they got some of daddy's genes.

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn!

I tried to give away a 27" tube TV a few years ago, and nobody wanted it. If it's not flat screen, I guess it's destined for the junk yard.

The old TVs are only good for one thing.......taking them to the gun range and watching them explode on the first shot.

Ha!
I spend a good portion of my life recording music. Now I can put the recording/editing tracks on the big screen and put the mixer on the little screen and not have to switch back and forth

Depending where you live, not allowed to dump tube tvs. In Parts of Colorado, they have to be taken to approved recycling companies.

Oh, and the new "monitor" is enormous. I was glad I found one for free, but we no longer need a light in the office, It does the job.

I'm not an opthomologist but I can't imagine being that close is good for your kid's eyes.

It is getting mounted about 4 feet away.
I haven't bought the mount yet so it is sitting on my desk.

It is too big and too close for sure.
Flight sim is awesome on it though!

Looking directly at the sun...not good for the eyes...

Being too close to a TV...is a wives tale. Actually it may exercise their eyes.

Kinda like when mom told us don't go outside with your hair wet...you will catch a cold.

News for you mom.....you catch a cold from a virus...not from being cold.

My wife will never believe that. She thinks she will get sick by drinking cold water....yet sleeping in a cold room is fine...:rofl::rofl:

I think I am off Mrs PC's Christmas card list......:sad::sad:...

When flyin round the homestead.....them may not be Bear or wolf tracks in the snow heading up to the house!!!

Girls are never pretty when they pout or frown.
I believe it is nature's defense mechanism ... for the husband. If she looks mad, you BETTER run!
I know it works with my wife. When she's mad, she ain't pretty and I back off. But when she smiles, she's gorgeous. :)

That's what is lacking in today's youth culture - big screen monitors for video games.

BTW, if you got picture but no sound, the driver for that is usually a 12AX7 or 12AU7. Poke around back inside and look for a tube with no orange glow. That'll fix er right up. lol....

You can also turn down the heat in the office.:lol:

No fooling. I've noticed a 5-8°F difference in ambient room temp depending on if the big flat screen TV has been on for a while or not. Enough in these cooler days to make me seek an additional layer of clothing or not.

Actually you'll pay extra to take it there now, heavy metal removal. They won't let you toss it in the landfill anymore. That window of "government shall look the other way while the flat screen industry gets established", has passed.

You know I still have a copy of the RCA Tube manual on the shelf in my office (ham shack). Real radios glow in the dark. :D
