A neighbor asked me to take his dad for a helicopter ride, so we went this morning. What I didn't know is that his 89 y.o. dad recently started work on his PP-ASEL (18 hrs). He thinks he may be the oldest student pilot in the country, and he might be right. He lives in Florida and is flying a 172.

This was an especially fun flight. The guy is rabidly interested in aviation, and really seemed to have a good time. We flew for an hour, sightseeing mostly over Chester County, Pa. I don't think I've ever taken a passenger who was more enthusiastic both during and after the flight (when he bought me lunch -- I do fly for food...). It's nice to see somebody get all fired up like that.

And who knows? Maybe he can be turned from the dark side to vertical flight :D

Glad to hear he hasn't lost the desire to try something new.

You do realize 89 yo in FL is a teenager right?

The subjects of my post won't qualify for the Thread Title. However, while at Twitchell's Airport 3B5 today I snapped a photo of the cork board posting.

The 2nd shot is unrelated to this thread, but is illustrative of new stuff at Twitchell's. (Not the Harley; that's mine).

Harley, shoot a copy of the bulletin board announcement to AOPA. I'll bet it will get into PILOT with some good (free) publicity for Dale and some national recognition for the two pilots and their CFI.
