Off on our annual trip

Can we move this stuff about Spike somewhere else? Since I've been very good friends with him along time, I have trouble believing he would berate anyone and it's certainly not appropriate to this thread. We've all had posts that didn't come across quite like we meant. If one can't find the original posts, let's give the benefit of the doubt.

Certainly, it's not appropriate to turn a vacation thread where we are having a great time into a confrontational thread.

Best,

Dave

Sunset on Kauai and our dinner seating the last night there.

Dave

Dave, you're a nice guy but after having seen the deserts you're enjoying... in the same honor as deserved by Lance...

Oh nevermind... enjoy more of 'em. I'll just live with my Breyer's. :)

Ken: Of course, I would never order one of these desserts myself! I just have to go along when my nieces oder 'em. Since they never seem to be able to finish them; I have to bat cleanup. Starving kids in China and all that stuff ya know!

Best,

Dave

nice dave. they didnt serve anything like that on the cruise ship!

Sheesh, Dave!

My rich "uncle" invited me over to one of his digs five times way back when, and I never got to eat one of those desserts! It ain't fair!:P

Enjoy your vacation!:)

That's for sure. Good stuff on the cruises, but nothing like that. I can't wait to go back to Kauai (or Maui, or the big island, or...) and have some more. :D

Don't act the innocent here Ghery! I sent you post about the Lava Cake to my nieces or that wouldn't have been in the scene. I sure can see why you'd want to come back; the sunset was right out of a post card while we ate at our favorite place here. In a few minutes, we're off to the Old Lahaina Luau; I understand it's an open bar. So, we make take the shuttle rather than drive.

Best,

Dave

You may have been blessed Tony! We may have a weight and balance problem on the way back to Wisconsin!

Best,

Dave

i was actually disappointed in my weight gain on the hawaii trip. i expected to pack on a few more pounds than i actually did.

Innocent? Me? I'm looking forward to going back next year (and the year after that, and... )

Hope the open bar is good. Have a Mai Tai for me. :cheerswine:

Yesterday was shopping most of the afternoon; got lots of neat gifts for family. Ate dinner last night at Mama's Fish House; quite the dinner. Wonderful views of the ocean. Most entries on the menu were fish caught that day; some state who the fisherman that caught them were.

We went SCUBAing this morning. Wonderful dive; not too deep; lots of coral and some interesting things like: turtles, eels, a pet puffer fish that wanted snacks. Got a few pics, but they will have to be developed. I'll try to get some pics from yesterday posted.

Best,

Dave

sounds great dave. one of the coolest things we did was take a submarine ride. I think it was in the bay at Kona. Really neat to see the coral and various fishes, and pretty neat how down around 100 feet deep it all just turns to sand.

Here are a couple of the pics we took downsized: Us at the Luau: Me, Britt and Lindsay and sunset on the island.

Dave, that's a beautiful sunset. I hope you got that in a high resolution shot. It would make an awesome print to enlarge and frame.

Here are the dancing girls at the Luau and a wonderful rainbow that followed us for much of the drive to Mama's Fish house for dinner last night.

Best,

Dave

In that rainbow picture, you can sure tell which way the prevailing winds blow... just look at the tops of the palms!

Some very high winds here: a lot of the time. We seem to be on the Leeward side of the island. The hotel blocks a lot of wind when we are on property. I could see how crosswind landings could be an everyday occurrence here. On several mornings when I have been out jogging, I've gotten light rain while out on the island side of the hotel and there are clouds over the mountains. Once I return to the hotel, on the beach side, little wind and no rain. Of course, the rain has made it to the beach side a couple times, but it's much more present inland from here.

Dave

rainbows, oh yea. it seems there is at least a rainbow a day.

Well, we're heading back home today. Did a last swim, walked around a bit and checked out. We board American at 4:55 and get back in the wee hours of the morning. Have some things planned back there; then, I take the nieces back home.

That's the hardest part of any vacation - going home and back to work. Have a good flight home. Ah, fond memories of Lava Cake and Hula Pie. :P

dave must be on his way back. I was cruising the 421 westbound and heard 322KS check in. tried to get a 'hi dave' in on frequency but he either didnt hear me or ignored me.

I DID hear someone say hi, but had no idea who it was; it cut off my Led Zep CD for a couple seconds. Wonder it it was on Dazed and Confused when you called?

Flew through some storms just south of Madison and broke out just south of DBQ. Sorry I didn't respond. I think someone transmitted almost immediately afterward. I just didn't know anyone would call me out that-a-way.

Best,

Dave

yea i was thinking we should establish some PoA code word that means 'go to 122.75'. oh well it was cool to hear you on freq. i always keep waiting to hear bruce on peoria when we fly by there twice a week. hope you had a great trip!

Great trip Tony; thanks for asking.

Now that I'm back home and everything's quiet, I'll have to get used to getting up and having a day where I can actually plan things again.

'Probably will get down this weekend when I'm alone going over the credit card bills. May need a Bourbon or two to smooth things over <g>

Dave

Niner niner niner november november!

Glad you had a good trip, Dave... Now where are the rest of the pictures? ;)

Oh, there are a bunch of pics Kent.

Got back late Wednesday and immediately got back into my business.

This weekend will be a bit tough. As a matter of fact, I wonder if Willy couldn't compose a tune about it.

The girls done left me; house is empty
Bourbon kills the lonesomeness;
All I have left is good memories and credit card bills
(train whistle in the background).

Best,

Dave
