What are some of the most oddly shaped Class Ds you've noticed on the chart? - Russ

IXD has a wedge cut out of it for another airport nearby, and has an overlap with OJC.

Other than a occasional two-piece snow man I've seen once or twice (can't remember where now) I've always seen the typical 4nm circles.

There's also Mickey Mouse ears around Eglin AFB in Florida.

San Diego is pretty different. So is Los Angeles.

Edit: Oops, didn't read the question right. I thought you said Class B.

Here's a four-piece snowman, although one of the pieces is class C.

Home drome, Pearson Field in Vancouver WA (KVUO), has a small, pie-slice-shaped Class D that tops out at 1100' MSL, nestled in a cutout under the KPDX Class C inner ring.

KVUO is an uncontrolled field* with its own Class D - in place because pilots are required to contact KPDX tower on a discrete frequency before entering the Class D (or before departing) to get wake turbulence advisories.

*KVUO is getting a temporary tower beginning next week that will operate through October, because KPDX runway construction will reroute jet traffic over our traffic pattern.

Well, can't say I noticed it on a chart but FTG is just a 90 degree wedge out of the DEN Bravo surface area. I fly out of FTG so its not just a matter of noticing it on a chart.

Now that is just WEIRD.

I remembered thinking VUO was weird, but I didn't pay too much attention to it because I was flying in and out of PDX itself.
