I was a Car and Driver subscriber when Brock Yates had the first 3 Cannonball Baker Sea to Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash. Can't imagine why they shortened the same to Cannonball.

Yates was so mad at what they did to his movie script and the jackasses that followed he walked away.
