- - - - except that Johann and Marilyn were brought to Maine via US Navy.
But today many of us locals mourn the loss of Marilyn --
http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/ma....aspx?n=marilyn-voorhees-hansen&pid=148513804 -- whose notice of passing will mean absolutely nothing to any of you. However, she had a great high school story which only her immediate acquaintances knew; and I'll share it here.
Back in New Jersey one of her high school acquaintances was a character, of sorts; the class "cut-up." He wasn't a trouble maker, or devious, but kept fellow students, if not the faculty, regularly amused in various manners.
It was either a Junior of Senior Prom at which Marilyn was his date. When graduation exercises were happening the student was one of the speakers. He commented freely upon his prior four years and pontificated upon his future life.
A loose quotation would be something like, "It's been swell, folks; some good times. But I'm out of here; going to Hollywood to be a movie star." Seemingly, such a brash young man who, Marilyn said, had eyebrows back then that made him look devious.
Years passed; but the young man made good on his prediction -- Jack Nicholson.
RIP, Marilyn. I'll miss visiting you just four houses down from where I used to live; and seeing the latest fish you've added to the little outdoor pond.
EDIT: and, of course, I have corrected my typo(above)[momentary brain f***], which should have been "Jack Nicholson."
