Area affected: 32,000 mile radius around the molten center of a Blue Planet. 3rd from a single star.

That is right up there as one of the best CYA NOTAMs ever. Just in case the pieces come down through an airliner. ;)

In other words: Be Lucky. And if you're not, tell ATC or Flight Service.

"As of 10:30 p.m. EDT on Sept. 23, 2011, the orbit of UARS was 85 miles by 90 miles (135 km by 140 km). Re-entry is expected between 11:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, and 12:45 a.m., Sept. 24, Eastern Daylight Time (3:45 a.m. to 4:45 a.m. GMT). During that time period, the satellite will be passing over Canada and Africa, as well as vast areas of the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian oceans. The risk to public safety is very remote."

So if you're in Canada or Africa, watch out.

Oh this is better than the NOTAM

"The Federal Aviation Administration issued an alert to pilots today warning flyers to be on the lookout for any signs of a huge NASA satellite expected to fall to Earth"

So what exactly are the signs of a huge NASA satellite falling? I dunno a 2' piece of metal slamming through your empanage?

You know they even emailed this as an alert?

Can you say, CYA?

A two foot long piece of metal would cut right through a blimp.

That would be a bad day.

TSA wrote that one.

You know, the same folks who give us "Unsubstantiated intelligence indicates there might be a terrorist event at an unnamed place at an uncertain time..." warnings.

:rolleyes2:

Spike posted this audio recording a few years ago - KADS ATIS. "Caution - space debris". Equally useful :D

Is that why they're slowly shutting down NASA? Because it's really just a terrorist operation doing aerial bombings of random targets?
