EAA Chapter 87 held our March meeting at the builder's home/garage in Manchester. Grady Sharp, who signed the form, lives in Chelsea. Grady has built his own(or several), and another Chapter member is building a Tundra.

EDIT: She'll come apart tomorrow for being painted. When completed she'll be moved to Waterville, where the builder built a hangar, and the wings shall be remounted.

Thanx, I used to work for MIFS in AUG (30+ yrs ago) and my brother worked for Telford Aviation (??) in WVL. Know that area well. We both grew up in Gardiner.

"Building a Tundra"?? splain please.. Tundra Toyota?

That RV10 is a nice airplane. Lucky you for working on one.

. . . And you were a Gardiner "Tiger," eh? My Rockland High School was also "Tigers." Time frame in Gardiner? Seems to me my friend Al NY Yankees fan Fuller, after he taught sciences in Winthrop 7th-8th Grades, may have moved to similar position in Gardiner. Name strike a bell?

Yeah, the Tundra kit plane, which I think Jay said he's been to Texas for factory dealings and will go back there for follow-up stuff. EAA Chapter 87 Bowdoinham had just purchased the W & B scales and Jay was the first to use them.

Don't remeber that name. I was a Gardiner Tiger from 71-74.
Left for college in ASH, was NEAI, now DWC and worked for MIFS summer of 75.

Roger on the EAA in Bowdoinham. I've found the grass field down there on Google Earth. Is it still usable? I've also been searching for a place we called "Poverty Flats", some where north of Waterville. Any ideas?

Al Fuller graduated from Cony High in '63 or so, the Larry and John Coughlin all-around athletes era. I'm not familiar with "Poverty Flats," but my shots of Bowdoinham -- still operating though closed for the winter, usually need until into May to get dry -- are below. The 08B shot on Airnav.com is my image.

I took my first lesson at Merrymeeting in 1999. It's my understanding that there used to be as many as 25 planes there when Mr. Purington owned it -- and after. He sold it to Wayne DeLong in the early 1980s -- along with N4065V(C-150) and "49Uniform"(a C-172). Correction: Neighbor Mr. Curtis owned the land; Purington - then Wayne - were the Merrymeeting Aviation owners. Eventually, Mr. Curtis sold the 42 acres, which include the airport, and numerous houses were built closer to the shore line. Mark, the current owner of the airport, had a foundation dug and the clubhouse was renovated for upstairs living accommodations and the building was moved onto the foundation. In warmer season there are about a ½ dozen planes there. However, depending on the winter severity there can be some activity(other than the daily coffee group/hangar flyers).
Photos: Doc Widmer(retired dentist), on his way out of town and back to Wiscasset, an 8nm straight shot.

Great pictures... but now I remember those ugly four letter words...

SNOW and COLD

Guess that's why I'm not in such a hurry to get back to Maine.
Thanx for the history lesson.
