Nostalgic g'bye to Northwest

You're welcome. Certainly a time of change for those fine folks. My friend was flying for them when they were Northwest Orient. He sent pics of the first few planes with the new Delta paint job. It's tugging at his heartstrings.

Best,

Dave

Very nice, Dave.

(I did note that the top "related" link that came up was "The Worst Airline CEOs"...) :yikes:

Yea, it's a shame that the publicity goes to bad management. We have a lot of wonderful people that do all they can to make it work. Same at many other places that have had to go through this. We don't hear much about the folks that try to make it all work everyday unless we know them personally. Guess that's not eye-catching news.

Dave,

I'm with you.

There ought to be a LOT more credit given for the line folks that work miracles within the system. It's those front-line folks that make me keep bringing my business back. They're also the ones that cost the business. Sorta like rubbernecking a car wreck, I suppose.

While CEOs set the attitude for the company (and I gotta give credit to folks like Herb Kelleher and Gerald Grinstein), the real public face is the employees. These folks deserve most of the credit.....

I guess the burden of having to share airports with those GA pilots was too much?

Great vid Dave, thanks for sharing! While it's tough on those fine folks at NWA, and I definitely feel for them, I have to say that I thought the 747 in DL colors was pretty sharp. The DC-9's are starting their repaints now too.

I've seen photos of both the 744 and one of their DC-9s in the "Citgo" paint scheme. They're sharp looking planes alright, but I'm really going to miss the redtail. NWA's newest paint scheme was/is really gorgeous, it's sad to see that go. I just hope the fleet integration and list merger goes smoothly, this could be a great new airline!

I took these a few days ago in DCA...
