NW Jet Vandalized ... At BWI
Thursday, August 25, 2005
The Associated Press

[font=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Northwest Airlines says an airplane at BWI had its tires deflated Wednesday morning, forcing passengers to take other flights.

A Northwest spokesman says two landing gear tires were found to be deflated during a pre-flight inspection.

Passengers scheduled to take the flight to Minneapolis to put on other flights.

Northwest has been dealing with labor problems. Replacement workers have been providing aircraft maintenance since more than 4400 mechanics, cleaners and other workers went on strike last week over pay and benefit cuts demanded by the airline.

The airline is cooperating with federal authorities in investigating the incident.

Is the implication here that disgruntled workers have vandalized an aircraft in response to being replaced with scabs?

Chuck, would you be at all surprised if the answer to your question was an unequivocal, "Yes"?

Remember the incident of tire failure just after the strike began? A four tire blowout and commencement of strike; coincidence, maybe, but I know strange things happen when labor unions decide to strike.

Who else would have had access to the plane AND a reason to do this?

If it's vandalism, it's a federal offense.

That airport security is really good since the TSA took over, huh?
