KRDG - READING, PENNSYLVANIA
JANUARY 23rd - Noon Lunch

The first fly-in of the new year!! First stop on the North East Flyers calendar is Reading Regional Airport/Carl A Spaatz Field Reading, Pennsylvania. A noon time gathering for good eats at the Malibooz Bar & Grill along with a fun filled day stepping back in time as you walk through all of the Mid Atlantic Air Museum aircraft on display.

ADMISSION FEE to the museum is $6 for Adults , $3 for Children 6 to 12, and free for 5 and under. Admission is free to Museum Members. You may want to sign up on the spot, or you can read about membership and BECOME A MAAM MEMBER !

I most likley won't make it as we'll be heading east the weekend of January 15th for the Pennsylvania Farm Show.

I can't attend this one unfortunately, and also not the other local Favorite for February. 09L isn't repaired yet, although I would love to rent a Diamond DA-20 again, and Becky and I are in the last days of her pregnancy with the baby due any day between now and the 29th. My luck, she would go into labor the moment I get wheels up on my way out to RDG.

The next NE Flyers event is Feb 20th, which is her birthday, plus we will have the newborn baby,.. so I hope that I can get back in the left seat soon,.. but I'll be driving to pick up those that arrive for the Wings Fly-B-Que in May,...

A great day flying and I really think my first time passneger had a good time. Now if anyone has pictures.....my SD ram card was not in the camera.
 
Great day. The weather couldn't have been better and it was nice to see everyone. Thanks for setting it up Gary.
 
Was a great day to be in the air!! Good turnout as well. We did keep the approach guys busy for a while. Only a few pictures however.

I looked for a big group at MAAM -- we weren't planning on flying east until we took off and saw sun and clear east, clouds and such west.

We had lunch at LNS then flew up to the MAAM arriving around 1330. That's a neat place that has grown quite a bit since I was there last in 2002.

The skies sure were busy! until we were west of MDT -- then, silence.

Winds were 14G20 right off the ridge when we returned, but landing on 14 at VVS was fairly uneventful.

I'm glad I didn't fly the Chief out today. Woulda been lottsa no fun.

I got as far as the waiting room at RDG and my new passengers did not like the 15min wait circling outside of the airspace waiting to get in... asked if we HAD to go. Guess we should have come earlier to avoid the rush.

So we flew home and had lunch there... sorry I missed you all.

Well, actually the new boyfriend is a landscaper but no... the lawns are not growing.

It was only his second flight ever in his life, he's still a little nearvouse about flying and since I want him to fly with me agian... when he gets uncomfortable, I do what will make him comfortable agian.

It was only his second flight ever in his life, he's still a little nearvouse about flying and since I want him to fly with me agian... when he gets uncomfortable, I do what will make him comfortable agian.

I don't think you could of asked for a better day to fly with a newbie.
 
Nice videos Adam. Sure was a CAVU day out there. Looks like a great way to start off the new year for the NE Flyers!

Yep it was a great day to have a newbie in the plane. He's getting more and more comfortable with it each time we fly. It was more important to me to raise his comfort level with flying then actually make it to lunch. I still want to show him what you can do with a plane but that's ok. Next time, I'll just make sure to be early so we don't have to wait to get in somewhere. It was a beautiful day, we flew longer, higher and further then he had ever been before... now I just have to get him use to banking the airplane a little further... he's not really happy with even standard rate turns... which is why circling outside of RGD was not making him happy.
 
It was too nice to just head back to Wings so my buddy Alex and I headed down toward Wilmington and along the Delaware river before heading up toward Flying W where we made a left turn for home.

It was awesome Anthony, Lee flew it exceptionally well. I got about 20 min stick time and it felt like it was on rails.
