got my 3 takeoffs and landings in the dark last night - night current once again. They don't feel any different than my day landings - do you suppose it's because I always close my eyes at 20' AGL? :)

Me too last evening. It's that time of year when I think, "Is this a good place to be with a single engine?"

But it's always pretty and smooth.

Yet another advantage to being a light and sporty guy - no need for night currency.

(Yes, it would be nice - particularly this time of year - but I'm not really complaining - LSA is the best thing since sliced bread as far as I'm concerned.)

Just got back from doing mine. Couple of stop-and-goes here at New Haven, over to Oxford for one there, then back home. Also got some nice crosswind practice. And a very pretty view of New Haven coming back. Time to put it in the logbook.

My standard route is from KHPN to KBDR to KHVN to KOXC and back to KHPN. Note to self: time to do it again.

Just curious, does one need to get signed off for night first? Or, if one has his PPC, does he just need to go out and do them at night?

In the US, your certificate includes night VFR. Go a bit north of y'all, and they have an add-on "Night Rating" much like and Instrument Rating, but not as long.

In the US you can also get a PPL restricted to DAY VFR, and with that you'd need something more than 3 solo landings to become "current" at night.

That sounds like a fun little circle. I've never landed at HPN - I figure they don't need the extra traffic, and there are so many towers around here that do. If I'd had more time last night, I would probably have thrown Bridgeport or Chester into the mix. Glad I got it done yesterday, though - not such a great day for flying today.

Only in Alaska, and it's only good for one year.

Its great, unless you want to actually go somewhere or fly in any kind of weather. Just perfect for what the FAA wants for us. :rolleyes2:

Saturday night was grand... Full moon and no chop... Stayed local and a little off the coast of n.j. Just nice being up there.... Three landings and into the tiedown.
