My son went through MEPPS today and is now a sworn member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

He'll attend basic and AIT from August -- November, then will begin as an ROTC Cadet at CalU of PA in January.

Congrats to him! I'm sure he'll serve his country with great pride.

And I'm sure dad is quite proud as well. :D

A bit! He's a thousand times more prepared to be a soldier than I ever was -- and I didn't do too bad...

His mom is a bit anxious, but I've assured her that he won't be deployed as long as he keeps his grades up and remains in ROTC.

Congratulations! I'm sure you and the family are proud! Does he have a specialty that he would like to pursue?

BTW - City of Champions? Some of us in Phila may beg to differ. :D

He's talked about Special Forces -- first he needs to complete Infantry IOB and Ranger school.

We'll see...

Ye s-- City of Champions!

(Though Villanova doesn't have it yet, even though I'm cheering for them!)

Congratulations to your son, you and all of us for having him serve us in this capacity.

Great - wish him luck! I'm sure he'll be a credit to the Bloody Bucket.

Dan, congratulations to your Boy. Good Job! It's sad to see 'em "fly the coop" but good as well as they are turning into big kids like us.
