Cool I went flying earlier today. 1.3 hours in the 182 and 5 night landings. A good night.

Sounds like a good plan. However, not here, not with our weather.

Happy New Year!

sounds like a great idea. Fogged in here in East TN. Went to Destin, FL for a day trip Tuesday. Looking forward to flying more in 2010. Happy New Year

Wish I could do the same. Hope you're having a blast! Happy New Year man!

The club always flies on New Years Day.. I'll get there before 10, get the LS-4 put together and plan to take my share in the tow ship.

The goal is everyone gets at least one flight...
We'll be flying on the 2nd and 3rd too... what a way to start the year.. the first 3 days are all flying days..

I tried to go flying while I'm in florida. Apparently the airplane has no engine on it right now....you mean I need those things? Tony does great without one, I don't see why I can't...

I've been testing different plates to block off airflow to the oil cooler and radiator for my RV-12. I flew about an hour yesterday when it was OAT 10F. I'm headed to the airport for my annual first flight of the year. It is +5F surface temp so I better put on my long johns!

Sat. is the real test. Weather guessers are forcasting -15F OAT's. :yikes:

Engines are optional, needed only for take off.

Great idea Jess. I thought of doing that but the Wx is for crap here. freezing rain ugh.

Wx not so good here either. But luckily here at Auburn, tucked into the valley, it was relatively calm. (160@6 @S50 vs 150@ 11 G22 @ BFI 10 miles away.) I got in a little pattern flying today. Some is better than NONE. Dave

I got up for an hour, very smooth, cold air. OAT's 5F at alt. Lite snow / overcast when I took off turned into sever clear and bright sun. Absolutely gorgeous with 22" of snow and 10 -12' snow drifts.

First flight 1/1/2010!

I've a slight cold with ear blockage...no flying for me...

No flying here today. Raining and limited viz. I'll just keep watching football. Go Ducks. Beat OSU!

A simple amputation below the chin will solve everything!:yikes:
That it will...but I'm not feeling that sick. It's just a cold. Nasal blockage, maybe a slight fever. I'm just taking it easy today...I should start coming out of it tomorrow or sunday.

A friend called today, needing a ride to pick up his airplane from the shop. I would probably have just watched ball-games and couch-tatered between naps otherwise, but the sudden need galvanized my sorry butt off of the sofa and out to the hangar. He's back home now, and so am I, with a couple of hours of rubber-necking in beautiful weather. Some rancher has just installed a new trap-skeet range on his place west of Mineral Wells, always interesting to see stuff that is only visible from above.

660nm in absolutely gorgeous clear bump-free, back side of t' cold front Texas skies today - no traffic, no hassles, happy controllers, great fbo personnel!

I was at the Swissotel in Chicago, 28th floor, looking at the midnight fireworks going off just off the Lake Michigan/Chicago River lock, and couldn't stop looking at the lucky SOB(s) flying GA aircraft just off the lakefront.

Too bad there was no airport ANYWHERE close that he, she, or they could land at in case of an emergency. :mad3:

But I digress. Happy new year!

Bah. Coldest wind chill I remember was close to -90. (Not sure if it ever actually hit that, but it was in the upper negative 80's.) Yes, I went outside. Despite being fully clothed, it felt like someone was doing the gatorade dump... Brrrrrr.

Couple of winters ago, during the coldest cold snap of the season, I got sent to Grand Forks, ND. -31F that night... But still nothing like Alaska!
